Itinerary

Day 1: Khinalug – Galaykudat Tour

Stop At: Qechresh, Azerbaijan
On the way to Khinalug village we will stopover at the beautiful Qechresh Forest – one of the most visited forest, road cuts through the trees and offering panoramic way to enjoy. You will have a chance for the pictures inside of the Qecresh forest.
Duration: 15 minutes

Stop At: Quba, Quba, Guba-Khachmaz Region
Red settlement is located across the Qudiyalçay River (or Kudyal River) from the larger town of Quba. It is the primary settlement of Azerbaijan’s population of highland, or mountain Jews who make up the population of approximately 4,000. The most widely spoken language in Red town is Juhuri. Red town is considered to be the world’s last surviving shtetl. The settlement is sometimes referred to as the Red Town or the Red Village, possibly because of the red tiling used on many of the roofs. Other sources attribute the name to the protected status the town received during the Soviet period, when it was shielded from persecution during World War II.

Stop At: Khinalug, Khinalug, Guba-Khachmaz Region
Finally, you’ll head up to Khinalug which is not only one of the world’s oldest inhabited regions (dating back to more than 5000 years) but also one of the Europe’s highest settlements at an altitude of over 2,350 meters. This picturesque village has a population of not more than 2000 people.In the Khinalug you will be invited to the one local house to drink tea and eat the local pastries. Because of the high altitude and remoteness of Khinalig it managed to survive and with stand many invasions. Also there are very beautiful sceneries on the hiking track.After moderate hiking, in the view of mountains we will set our picnic with local people.

Stop At: MestDergah, Quba-Xinaliq yolu 25km, Quba 4000, Azerbaijan
After the Khinalig Village you will visit to Mastargah Waterfall. This waterfall is not big. Anyway, you can visit and take some pictures on there. In waterfall area – they have restaurant, if you want you can eat some meals or you can do tea break.

Day 2: Galaykhudat – Griz village tour

Stop At: Kalaykhudat, Azerbaijan
After eating good breakfast with local family at the village, we will begin continue to our hiking trip with Kalaykhudat village. We will hike from Khinalug village to Kalaykhudat village (8 km). Galaykhudat and Griz villages are one of the most remote villages in the country. These village are located in Great caucasus mountains. Each of three villages population belongs to a different ethnic group.
Duration: 50 minutes

Stop At: Giriz, Azerbaijan
Afterwards continue hiking to Giriz Village, on the way stop at Gurgur waterfall. The village is highly popular with its fascinating waterfall.This mountain village is located in the foothills of the Ag dagh Mountain, and on the cost of the Gudyalchay River. Griz is known with the most snow falling place in the rural settlements of Azerbaijan.Then heading to Giriz. In the village visit local family and learn about languages and cultures of mountainous people.Meanwhile you will taste local cuisine of people. After finishing the hiking tour you will come back to Baku
