The JK Memorial was designed by Oscar Niemeyer and is located on the Monumental Axis. It was conceived as a museum and opened in September 1981, two years after the death of former President Juscelino Kubitschek.

Built in 1987, the Indigenous Peoples Memorial was designed by Oscar Niemeyer in a spiral shape that resembles a round Yanomami Indians’ maloca. It aims to show the great diversity and richness of indigenous culture in a dynamic and living way.
