Local Market Tour and Traditional Brazilian Cooking Lesson in a Londrina Home

Londrina Trip Overview

Meet your host Jules at Mercado Shangri-lá for a walk around and a little shopping. The Mercado is a Londrina tradition, and the best day to visit is a Sunday, when the stalls are full and visitors can take in the cultural diversity of the city. When it’s time for a snack, Jules will invite you to have a cold beer and a famous bolinho de carne (beef croquette) in a local bar.

After your market tour, you will join Jules in her kitchen to learn to make a traditional caipirinha before you help her cook a few authentic Brazilian dishes. Your cooking experience will last about 1-2 hours and you will learn how to prepare cheese bread, onion farofa (toasted cassava flour), desserts and other traditional starters and side dishes, as many of the main Brazilian dishes she prepares are slow cooked or would take longer than 2 hours to cook.
