A challenging hike in a very unusual part of Tijuca Forest, one of the biggest urban forests in the world. On this circuit of trails you'll walk approx. 5h, for 10,4km (6.5mi), with an elevation gain of 848m (2,670ft) and discover the nature and beauty of the jungle. Reach the Taquara Hill (814m=2670ft), a 100m higher than Christ Redeemer with mazing views to the valley of the forest and the city, in clear days. Visit caves and also coffee farms ruin. After the hike, refresh in a waterfall* (bring towel/ bathing suit). On the route to the park, stop by another summit for pictures and admiring the landscape. Pico da Tijuca Trail


Pico da Tijuca is the highest mountain of Tijuca National Park. With about 1.000 meters of altitude, it has a privileged city view.
To get to the trail beginning, we cross Tijuca Forest, passing through waterfalls and lookouts, such as Chinese View and Emperor's Table Monument, from where you can see the city in different perspectives.

Pico da Tijuca Hiking Tour

The Tijuca Peak is the highest point in the Tijuca National Park, 1022 meters above sea level, the second highest in Rio. Accessible by track, your plateau allows observation of the city in 360 degrees, making it a Rios reference.

The staircase with 177 steps at the end of the trail was excavated in the early twentieth century. The president sent sculpt the staircase to the visit of the King of Belgium.

On the way we’ll visit the famous Chinese View, located in the Alto da Boa Vista and also the Taunay Waterfall, with 35m, the largest in the Forest!

The Tijuca Peak trail has an extension of 4.700m (round trip), and approximately 300 meters of vertical rise.

Most of the way is inside the forest, listening toucans, watching monkeys and large groups of raccoons, famous for entering the bins and steal food from people.
