What to Expect When Visiting Rio de Janeiro, Southeast, Brazil

Bicycle your way through Rio de Janeiro’s South Zone – Zona Sul – along easy, paved paths on this 3-hour morning tour with a friendly local guide. Starting in Flamengo Park, you’ll pass picturesque landscapes designed by Burle Marx, see multiple monuments and stop at world-famous beaches in this amazing city built over Guanabara Bay. From Sugarloaf’s cable cars to Copacabana, you’ll catch all the highlights along the way.

Start your bike tour in Flamengo Park, Rio de Janeiro’s largest leisure complex. Built over landfill on Guanabara Bay, the park extends from downtown to Botafogo Beach in the city’s South Zone – Zona Sul – and includes biking and walking trails as well as multiple sports fields.
After meeting your professional local guide and tour group, hop on your bike and ride the paved path through the park, stopping to see many attractions along the way. Your guide will point out the Museum of Modern Art, the World War II Monument and the Monument to Estácio de Sa. Get out your camera for great photo ops at the Glória Marina and two beautiful beaches – Praia do Flamengo and Glória.
As you wind through Flamengo Park’s lovely gardens, designed by the world-famous landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, admire the diversity of flora; Marx planted thousands of flowering bushes and trees, which attract many types of birds.
Leaving the park, continue on the bike path to Praia Vermelha (Red Beach), nestled between Morro da Urca (Urca Hill) and Morro da Babilônia (Babylon Hill) in the wealthy residential neighborhood of Urca. From here, watch the glass-walled cable cars climb the granite monolith of Sugarloaf Mountain.
To complete your tour, follow your guide across the Túnel Velho (Old Tunnel) for a final ride along the stone-paved walkway of Copacabana Beach – one of the most famous beaches in the world!
