What to Expect When Visiting Santos, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil

An experience in one of the few traditional communities that still keep the fishing way of life and live in contact with nature. The Caruara neighborhood is a quiet place that doesn’t even look like the urban Santos we know. Dealing with knowledge, the way of life, the local landscape is a rewarding experience and still helps women and young people in the community.

Itinerary

During the activity we will visit the Caruara neighborhood, a simple neighborhood of fishermen and small farmers. There, we will visit on foot the neighborhood and Portinho, place of embarkation of canoes and fishing and leisure vessels. We will also visit the Caruara Community Based Tourism Center and there we will be able to learn about local handicrafts and the community based project carried out by women and young people. There will also be a craft workshop which can be fish scale flowers or dish cloth design. For meals or tastings it is necessary to pay the portion, according to the menu and meal.
