Itinerary

Stop At: Ahu Tongariki, Easter Island Chile
There is no better way to start the day than to enjoy the breathtaking spectacle of seeing the sun rise behind Ahu Tongariki – the largest and most impressive Easter Island monument. The ancient Rapa Nui people would do this every morning. The sun was a very central part of life especially to the Tongariki tribe, as the whole monument is perfectly aligned with the sunrise at summer solstice, around the 21st of December each year.
The closer we are to winter solstice (around 21st of June every year), the further north is the sun at sunrise. Between April and September, the sun will rise behind the volcano Poike. A sunrise tour is still possible, but it will require more of you as a photographer to take beautiful and interesting photos. We will then have to wait until the sun rises behind the volcano.
Please note that there’s a bigger risk of unclear skies during winter.
