We start here, in front of the fountain of Neptune. This square is the boundary between the Unesco area and the rest of the city. Here you will see many restaurants, local people in their daily lives, a flower market and an old bar opened in 1896.

Stop At: Ascensor Reina Victoria, Calle Elias, Valparaiso Chile

The funiculars are one of the highlights of Valparaíso. This is the city with more of them worldwide. They are 2 small wooden cars that go up and down at the same time on diagonal rails, connected with a flexible steel cable, specially built to help local people and travelers to reach the hills. The Reina Victoria funicular was built in 1902 and it is the shortest and steepest funicular in Valparaíso, but don’t worry, it’s located right in front of the cemetery, just in case!

After enjoying the walk through the Unesco area, we take the first steam funicular of Valparaíso (currently electric), opened in 1902, downhill to reach the center.

Stop At: Plaza Sotomayor, Valparaiso Chile

This is one of the most interesting places in the city center, where you will see a variety of architectural styles, the most important monument of the Chilean Navy and a local craft market.

After taking an electric trolleybus from Sotomayor square, we finally climb the hills in the longest funicular that still works, opened in 1893, to reach the last viewing point of the tour.

To close with a flourish, we finish our tour with the best panoramic view of the city, from a traditional promenade, where so many sailors made promises they never kept. Here you will find a craft fair and the National Maritime Museum. At the end of the tour, you can decide if you prefer to stay to enjoy the place for longer or return to the Sotomayor Square with your guide. We can also help you get an Uber or a taxi to go where you need it, be it your hotel, the bus terminal or a good restaurant for dinner.
