What to Expect When Visiting Beijing, China, China

This full day coach tour to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall and One Tomb of Ming Emperors is a popular travel to discover ancient Beijing. At foot of Great Wall you can choose either hike up or take a cable car(at your expense) to reach the top. Stop At: Mutianyu Great Wall, Mutianyu Village, Bohai Town, Huairou District, Beijing China

In the morning, you will be picked up from your downtown Beijing hotel between 6:30am and 7:00am (note: you will receive a message from Viator, or a phone call to the hotel front desk from the tour guide on the evening of one day before your tour date to confirm the exact pick-up time) to discover one aspect of ancient Beijing.

You will be firstly driven to the Ming Tombs (Changling), the best-preserved Chinese imperial tombs with 500 years history. Changling is the underground mausoleum of Emperor Wan Li. The Underground Palace Halls, a labyrinth palace building, were the first royal tomb excavated in accordance with plan in China. 

End the visit of Ming Tombs at about 11:00, before having Chinese traditional lunch, you will have a short visit of Jade Carving Factory. The jade carving is very famous special local product, it was not only the excellent skill on carving, but also mixes many Chinese traditional cultures in the jade carving.

After visiting Ming Tomb, break for lunch at a local restaurant. Next, you will be driven to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, one of the best preserved areas of Great Wall. The great wall rides on the ridge of Yan Mountain where enshrouded by green forest. Hiking up the Great Wall is a challenging climb. Alternatively you can ride the available cable car (at your own expense, please check the optional activities below) to reach the top of this ancient defense project to enjoy a relaxing view of this great wall with densely packed watchtowers and crenelated parapets snaking among mountains.

• Toboggan fee: RMB 120 (cable car up, toboggan down)

On the way back to downtown, you will pass by the Olympic Green to attain a distant view of both the “Bird’s Nest “and “Water Cube”–two of the most iconic buildings from the 2008 Olympic Games. Feel free to take photos from your seat on the tour coach.

Afterwards, you will have a chance to enjoy Chinese traditional Tea Ceremony, where you also experience Chinese Calligraphy free. Chinese Calligraphy has thousand years of history and it was regarded as a kind of cultural & visual art.

End the tour with a drop-off at your hotel about dinner time.
