What to Expect When Visiting Zhangjiajie, Hunan, China

Itinerary
Day 1: Zhangjiajie Arrival

Zhangjiajie Arrival
Most flights land in Zhangjiajie in the evening. Upon arrival your local tour guide will meet you at the arrival hall of the airport with a name plate. If you arrive by train, your local tour guide will meet you with a name plate at the exit of the train station.
After meeting your tour guide, he/she will take you by private van and driver to your hotel. Have a good rest and be ready for the next day’s adventure!

Day 2: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park: Yuanjiajie Area Avatar Mountain & Tianzi Mountain Peak Forest(B,L)
Stop At: Wulingyuan Scenic and Historic Interest Area of Zhangjiajie, Within the District, Wulingyuan District, Zhangjiajie 427400 China
The tour starts after breakfast at your hotel. Your guide, driver and van will pick you up at your hotel and take you to Wulingyuan Scenic Area, where Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is located, to visit its two most classic and popular attractions.
Take a cable car up Tianzi Mountain, and you will see large areas of grotesque peaks thrusting up below. Walking along the steps spectacular views unfold in front of you from different angles.
Lunch is very simple and Chinese-styled, arranged at a local restaurant on the mountain. There is a McDonald’s and KFC on the mountain, and if you prefer, we can have lunch there, for a good rest indoors with air-conditioning.
In the afternoon, ride a public shuttle bus to Yuanjiajie Scenic Area, whose mountains are said to be the inspiration for Avatar’s Hallelujah Mountain. This area is the most visited area due to its fame. It takes about 1 hour to walk the tourist trails, before you take the Bailong elevator down the mountain.

Day 3: Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon with Glass Bridge & Tea-picking activity (B, L)
Stop At: The Grand Canyon of Zhangjiajie, Sanguansi, Zhangjiajie 427000 China
After breakfast, you’ll first drive about 30km to visit Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. You will start from the Tourist Center to Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge to walk on the highest and longest glass bridge in the world. After that, appreciate the charming sightseeing of running waters, flying waterfalls, lush vegetation, etc. (Please note: In Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon, you can choose to only experience the thrilling glass bridge or fully explore glass bridge as well as hiking and boating in the Grand Canyon.)
After lunch, drive to the beautiful tea garden in the afternoon, pick tea by yourself, see how to make the Chinese tea in the tea factory, you can also taste the local Chinese tea, and learn the Chinese tea culture and the way of drinking from the tea ceremony.
Then enjoy a tea featured dinner at a local featured restaurant.
Evening Activity: Take a stroll at Xibu Street, located at Wulingyuan Center, it combines the bars, tea houses, souvenir shops, local snacks and so on.

Day 4: Baofeng Lake & Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park & Zhangjiajie Departure (B, L)
Stop At: Tianmen Mountain National Park, 2FXJ+63F, Yongding District, Zhangjiajie, China, 427302
In the morning, firstly go to visit Baofeng Lake, this lake is in a basin in the middle of this mountainous area. It is a leisurely experience as you cruise on the clear water, view hills of various shapes, and enjoy local minority people singing their traditional songs.
Drive about 30 minutes to Tianmen Mountain,Your heart will beat fast at Tianmen Mountain on the world’s longest cable car, the suspended glass walkway almost a mile above the ground, and the ’99 Bends’ mountain road.
Tianmen Mountain is regarded as the ‘soul’ of Zhangjiajie, the views include graceful ancient trees, karst hillocks and long roads that are carved from the sides of the cliff. The cable car takes 30 minutes from the city center to the mountain top and is the longest cable in the world.
Tianmen Cave is a 30-meter-high hole formed naturally like a doorway, well-known for being glided through by a world-class stuntman in a wing suit.
