Stop At: Giant Panda Breeding Research Base (Xiongmao Jidi), No.1375 Xiongmao Avenue the Outside Northern Third Ring Road, Chenghua District, Chengdu 610081 China

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, or simply Chengdu Panda Base, is a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals founded in 1987. It started with 6 giant pandas that were rescued from the wild. There more than 100 pandas in total now living a carefree life in the base. In the Panda Base, you can find rivers, lakes, brooks, ornamental green lawns and greens, wild bamboo forests which form the panda’s natural ecological environment. You can closely observe the giant pandas of different ages resting, eating and drinking, playing with each other, using enrichment toys, or watch female pandas nursing their cubs in the nursery rooms. There is a feeding time during 9:00 – 11:00 when giant pandas are the most active in a day. Besides of giant pandas, you can also see a large amount of rare wild animals in this base, such as peacocks, white swans, and black-necked cranes.

Wuhou Temple, also called Wuhou Shrine or Wuhou Memorial Temple, is an ancestral temple in memory of Zhuge Liang, Liu Bei and other heroes in the state of Shu during the Three Kingdoms period when Chengdu was the capital of the state of Shu. Built in 223 AD, Wuhou Memorial Temple integrates Emperor Liu Bei’s tomb with his prime minister, Zhuge Liang’s shrine in one temple. It is referred to as the most Far-reaching Museum of Three Kingdoms Period and Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit with its intense fragrance of culture, idiomatical Chinse style architecture and gorgeous garden rich of spectacular vegetation. Every year, Wuhou Temple attracts millions of tourists from home and abroad to explore the fabulous Three Kingdom history here.

Huangcheng Mosque is one of the most famous mosques in Southwest China. It was named Huangcheng Mosque because it is near the Huangcheng (Imperial City) area of Chengdu. Huangcheng Mosque was established in the 16th century. The first repair began in 1858. In 1917, the mosque was seriously destroyed by war and was rebuilt right after the war. The existing mosque consists of an entrance wall, two gates, an ambulatory, a library and a prayer hall, etc. The entrance wall is just opposite to the gate and there is a street between them. A tablet with the name of the mosque on it is hung on the first gate, and a tablet with four Chinese characters Kai Tian Gu Jiao (the most ancient religion) on it is hung on the second gate, which was made during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). There are many block-printed Arabian and Chinese Koran in the library. The prayer hall was recently rebuilt. It is the headquarters of the Islamic Association of Sichuan Province.
