What to Expect When Visiting Chengdu, Sichuan, China

Itinerary
Day 1: Chengdu bus Xinduqiao
Stop At: Xinduqiao Town, Kangding County 626002 China
Drive from Chengdu to Xinduqiao via Ya’an, visit Shangli ancient town there, then proceed to Xinduqiao through Ya’an–Kangding highway, enjoy the road scenery. Xinduqiao, though there are no obvious bounds among different attractions in Xinduqiao, there is a “gallery for photographers” lasting 10 kilometers.

Day 2: Xinduqiao bus Litang bus Daocheng
Stop At: Litang County, Litang County, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan
Today you will take about 8 hours to Daocheng via Yajiang and Litang. Litang boasts “the Highest Town” for its 4014 meters over sea levels, and it is an important religious city in Tibetan plateau with strong nomadic features and atmosphere of traditional Tibetan life. You will visit Litang Monastery there, Litang Monastery is also known as Ganden Thubchen Choekhorling Monastery, meaning Happy Buddha Dharma, symbolizing the moral dharma turning and the true essence holds forever. The monastery boasts a history of almost 500 years. it’s the oldest and largest Tibetan Buddhism monastery in the Kham Area. On the way to Daocheng, we will cross two high mountain passes at an elevation of over 4000m viewing the Maoya Grassland and crossing the Rabbit Mountain which is the biggest Tibetan Plateau glacier relic and Haizi Mountain Natural Reserve (4500m).

Day 3: Daocheng bus Yading
Stop At: Yading Nature Reserve, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Daocheng County China
Today will visit Yading Nature Reserve, be Nicknamed as “the Last Shangri-La” for its natural beauties, Yadinng possesses mysterious monasteries, forests, pastures, snow-capped peaks, lakes and Tibetan villages;
Driving about 2 hours to Yading in the morning, on the way you can enjoy very charming countryside scenery.
After arrive at the entrance of Yading Nature Park, visitors take sightseeing bus to Yading Village and check in hotel to have a short rest. Then sightseeing bus can bring you to the Longtongba Station to visit Chonggu Temple and Chonggu Meadow where you can stand right in front of the holy peak Mt. Xiannairi and Pearl Lake.

Day 4: Yading bus Daocheng
Stop At: Yading Nature Reserve, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Daocheng County China
Go on visiting Yading Nature Reserve with sightseeing bus, take the local Battery Car to Luorong Pasture. It is 4,200 meters above sea level with the Gongga River running through. In the center of the pasture, there is a large area of marsh and wet land. Stand here, tourists can get a better view of the Yangmaiyong and Xianuoduoji Peak.
Then transfer back to Daocheng afterwards.
If your physical condition support, you can start a hiking tour to the two beautiful lakes, Milk Lake and Colorful Lake. They are two small lakes lying at the foot of snow peak, and they are seen to be tears of God. The up and down hiking tour will take you about 4-5 hours. Then return to Yading and transfer back to Daocheng for overnight.
Or if do not want to hike to Milk Lake and Colorful Lake, you can walk along the plank road back to Chonggu Temple, the plank road was built along the stream with quite and beautiful scenery on side.

Day 5: Daocheng bus Kangding
Stop At: Kangding County, Kangding County, Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan
It is a long tour overland today, but the beautiful landscape of Tibet remains endless charm to tourist. In the late afternoon arrive in Kangding, the capital city of Ganzi Tibetan prefecture, only 2560 meters above sea level. Free to walk around in this Tibetan town in the late afternoon. Kangding is also known for the folk song of Kangding Love Song.

Day 6: Kangding bus Chengdu
Stop At: Luding Bridge, On Dadu River, Luding County 626100 China
Transfer back to Chengdu, on the way over the Sichuan-Tibet line of the first mountain – Erlang mountain.
Luding Bridge also known as the Chain Bridge. This bridge is a masterpiece of ancient Chinese architecture. Especially on both sides of the bridge castle is Han wooden structure of ancient buildings which is unique to China. Then visit Shangli Anicent town in Ya’an. This town is the key station to connect Ya’an and Ancient Road of Southern Silk Road. Although the time makes the colors fade, the profound and unique ethnic culture is still expressed from the old buildings.
Free time for you after return to Chengdu hotel.
