Tisno is situated at the narrowest part of the Murter Channel (30 m wide). The new part of the settlement was built on the mainland, and the historic core is located on the north-east side of the island of Murter. The two parts of the settlement are connected with a movable bridge, the only connection of the island of Murter with the mainland in general.

Betina is a settlement on the island of Murter. The name of the place derives from the Celtic word “bet” (mouth), which corresponds to the aspect and the position of the bay of Betina. The settlement was founded in the 16th century by the refugees from Vrana.
