Sinj Trip Overview

Visoka (892 m) is a mountain rising above Sinj. On top of Visoka, we can find a ten meters high concrete cross.

A site is a place of pilgrimage for many residents of the whole Cetina region. We’ll enjoy beautiful views of Sinj, the Sinjsko polje valley, the surrounding mountains (Kamešnica, Dinara, Svilaja, Biokovo, Mosor) and further away the Adriatic Sea and islands.

From the top, we continue towards the Sutina canyon.

The geomorphological structure of the Sutina canyon is made of limestone and dolomite, whereas an abundance of fossils is disclosed to visitors due to the effects of erosion.

In accordance with the Nature Protection Act, the significant landscape of Sutina is under the direction of the Split-Dalmatia County Public Institution for the Protected Natural Values Management. Throughout this part, we will enjoy the shades of pine tree forest and reach the town of Sinj where we finish our adventure.

Itinerary

The site is a place of pilgrimage for many residents of the whole Cetina region. We’ll enjoy beautiful views of Sinj, the Sinjsko polje valley, the surrounding mountains (Kamešnica, Dinara, Svilaja, Biokovo, Mosor) and further away the Adriatic Sea and islands.

From the top, we continue westward along the karst path, through the juniper maquis shrubland, gentle glens and low forests leading to the highest peek of Visoka (2 hours).
From there, the path continues steeply downhill until we reach the canyon of the Sutina brook (35 minutes). The geomorphological structure of the Sutina canyon is made of limestone and dolomite, whereas an abundance of fossils is disclosed to visitors due to the effects of erosion.
