What to Expect When Visiting Alexandria, Alexandria Governorate, Egypt

Day One: Pickup in Alexandria, Pyramids Tour (L)

Meet a driver at the Alexandria Port, then board a private, air-conditioned vehicle for the trip to Cairo. The first stop of the day is the Giza Plateau, where you’ll see the pyramids, Great Sphinx, and Valley Temple, once used by ancient Egyptians as they prepared bodies for burial.

From there, continue to the Step Pyramid of Djoser: the oldest of the pyramids, it was built in the around 2630 BC, for the 3rd Dynasty ruler Kin Djoser. Pause for lunch at a local restaurant, then begin the return trip to Cairo, with drop-off at your hotel at roughly 5pm. 

Day Two: Egyptian Museum, Saladin Citadel, Drop-off in Alexandria (B, L)

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then meet a guide for the trip to the Egyptian Antiquities Museum, which houses a wonderful collection of Pharaonic artifacts, including an exhibit dedicated to Tutankhamen’s treasures, gold, and jewelry.

Following your time at the museum, pause for lunch at a local restaurant, then proceed to the Citadel to visit the Mohamed Ali Mosque, which was designed by the architect Yousif Boushnaq. After visiting the mosque, begin the return trip to Alexandria, where this tour concludes with drop-off at the Alexandria Port.
