What to Expect When Visiting Luxor, Nile River Valley, Egypt

Private 6 days tour to the best ancient monuments in and around Luxor. Itinerary

Day 1: Luxor

Pass By: Luxor, Luxor, Nile River Valley
Arrival day in Luxor. Your friendly driver will pick you up from your Luxor port to take you to your Luxor accommodation.

Day 2: Luxor West Bank

Pass By: Luxor, Luxor, Nile River Valley
After breakfast your Egyptologist tour guide and driver will pick you up with a private air-conditioned vehicle to enjoy a guided tour to the West Bank of Luxor. First you visit the Valley of the Kings, where you can admire 3 tombs of different dynasties. Your tour guide will be on hand to recommend for you the best tombs to see. Next, you’ll visit the Temple of Ramses III (Medinet Habu), one of the most beautiful temples in the West Bank, built by king Ramses III. Finally, you will be able to admire the Colossi of Memnon, two huge statues of king Amenhotep III. After touring the sites you will be transported back to your accommodation where you can spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Stop At: Valley of the Kings, Luxor City, Luxor 85511 Egypt
First you will be transported to the Necropolis of Thebes, the Valley of the Kings on the West Bank of Luxor. This ancient necropolis is a must-see for Luxor travelers. It consists of tombs embedded in the mountain Thebes. Here, you visit 3 tombs of various dynasties. Your Egyptologist tour guide will be on hand to recommend and advise you as to which tombs to visit

Stop At: Tomb of Ramses III, Valley of the Kings West Bank, Luxor Egypt
The tomb of Ramesses III, designated as KV 11, is a complex system in the Valley of the Kings. It has been known since antiquity,the wonderful decorations include colourful painted sunken reliefs featuring the traditional ritual texts (Litany of Ra, Book of Gates etc) and Ramses before the gods. Unusual here are the secular scenes, in the small side rooms of the entrance corridor, showing foreign tributes, such as highly detailed pottery imported from the Aegean, the royal armoury, boats and, in the last of these side chambers, the blind harpists that gave the tomb one of its alternative names: ‘Tomb of the Harpers’

Stop At: Tomb of Ramses IV, Valle de Los Reyes, Luxor Egypt
The tomb of Ramses IV (KV 2) in the Valley of the Kings is rather different than most other tombs built here. This tomb is by far the most spectacular of the other tombs you will see. The hieroglyphics on the wall depict scenes from the Litany of Ra, Book of the Dead, Book of Caverns, the Book of the Heavens, Book of Amduat, and the Book of the Night. The blue and white colors on the walls inside the burial chamber are very vibrant and you can see the king’s sarcophagus made of rose-colored granite. There is also a beautiful scene of goddess Nut on the ceiling, where she is depicted swallowing the sun, and it traveling through her stomach, for Nut to give birth to it.

Stop At: Tomb of Merenptah, Valley of the Kings West Bank, Thebes, Luxor Egypt
In Egyptian mythology, Ptah is the demiurge of Memphis, god of craftsmen and architects. Such as the Temple of Ramses III “Habu”, one of the most important Pharaonic temples. Its establishment dates back to the era of the Twentieth Dynasty in ancient Egyptian history, and it had a special religious sanctity for the ancient Egyptians.

Day 3: Luxor East Bank

Pass By: Luxor, Luxor, Nile River Valley
After breakfast you enjoy a guided tour to the East Bank of Luxor, where you visit Karnak and Luxor Temples. Karnak is a complex of temples built in different reigns in dedication of the Luxor triad of Amun-Ra, his wife Mut and their son Khonsu. In Luxor Temple you will see the granite statues of Ramses the Great. These ancient temples are a must-see for Luxor travelers. Rest of the day free at leisure.

Stop At: Temple of Karnak, Karnak, Luxor Egypt
Temple of Amun, also known as Karnak Temples. You visit what is considered to be one of the world’s greatest architectural masterpieces, namely the complex of Karnak Temples on the East Bank of Luxor. Karnak is a complex of temples built in different reigns, starting with the Avenue of Sphinxes, the Hypostyle Hall with its 134 gigantic columns, the Obelisks of Queen Hatshepsut and Tutomosis I, the Temple of Amon adorned with lotus and papyrus designs, the Granite Scarbeus of Amenophis III and the Sacred Lake. Karnak beats every other pharaonic monument: it is simply one of the most beautiful ancient monuments in Egypt

Day 4: Qena [ Dendera Temple ] – Suhag [ Abydos ]

Pass By: Sohag, Sohag, Sohag Governorate, Nile River Valley
In the morning you will be picked up by an air-conditioned vehicle for a full guided trip to Abydos, where the ancient Egyptians believed Osiris, the god of the underworld, was to be buried. The paintings of the gods and pharaohs on the walls of the Osiris Temple at Abydos are among the most beautifully preserved in Egypt. Afterwards, you will go to Dendera to visit the Temple of Hathor, goddess of love and joy. Hathor Temple, with its sacred lake and famous astrological roof, is a delicately beautiful structure.

Stop At: Abydos, Al Balyana, Sohag Egypt
The temple of Abydos was the main center of the worship of the god Osiris, and this temple is famous for the large number of tombs and burials that were found in the year one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five AD, which are attributed to the kings of the first and second dynasties
This temple was built during the reign of King Seti the First and was completed by his son, King Ramses II, and after him his grandson Merneptah. Its fame is due to its unique planning and because it contains seven chapels for the worship of six gods in addition to City itself

Day 5: Aswan [ Temple of Kom Ombo – Temple of Horus ]

Pass By: Aswan, Aswan, Aswan Governorate, Nile River Valley
In the morning you will be picked up for a guided trip to Kom Ombo where you will visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, which is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek. The temple, dating to the Ptolemies, is built on a high dune overlooking the Nile. After this temple you will go to Edfu to visit the Temple of Edfu which is dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god. This relatively young pharaonic temple is well-preserved and therefore very impressive. After touring the sites you will be transported back to your accommodation in Luxor.

n Kom Ombo you will visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, which is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek

Edfu to visit the Temple of Edfu which is dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god. This is quite a young temple and is well-preserved making it very impressive.
