Stop At: Temple of Medinat Habu, Al Bairat, Luxor Egypt

Medinet Habu is the Mortuary Temple of Ramesses III it was an important New Kingdom period temple structure. Aside from its size and architectural and artistic importance, the temple is probably best known as the source of inscribed reliefs depicting the advent and defeat of the Sea Peoples during the reign of Ramses III. Its walls are relatively well preserved, and it is surrounded by a massive mud brick enclosure, which was possibly fortified.

Tombs of the Nobles there are at least 415 catalogued tombs, designated TT for Theban Tomb on the west bank of Luxor. These tombs are the burial places of some of the most powerful courtiers and persons of the ancient Thebes. They are located in different areas of the west bank, such as Dra’ Abu el-Naga’ Sheikh Abd el-Qurna, El-Assasif, El-Khokha, Qurnet Murai.The most popular visited tombs are: Menna, Nakht, Ramose, Rekhmire and Sennefer.

Valley of the Queens is dedicated to the tombs of the Queens, the wives and children of the Kings of Egypt dating primarily from the 18th Dynasty – 20th Dynasty. The main wadi is U shaped and contains 91 tombs with the subsidiary valleys adding another 19 tombs many of which are not complete.
