Ruinart is the oldest existing Champagne house, founded in 1729 by Nicolas Ruinart a year after Louis XV authorised the transport of wine in bottles.
Ruinart is known as a Chardonnay dominant producer, mostly from the Montagne de Reims. Ruinart was first to use the Gallo Roman chalk pits in Reims to store wine.
