Day 1: Paris — Latin Quarter

Stop At: Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, 95700 Roissy-en-France, France
Arrival at Paris Airport on Saturday, Sunday or Monday.
Travellers will arrive at different times.
We organise for all flights coming from US group/small-group transfers from the Airport Charles de Gaulle to the hotel.

The tour description is made for the Program starting on Saturday. However we mention in the description important informations for travellers coming to Paris on Sundays and Mondays.

Paris’ Latin Quarter is situated on the left bank of the Seine and dates back to the Middle Ages. For years, it was known as a bohemian enclave, attracting students, writers and intellectuals. The area was so named a few centuries ago because the students of The Sorbonne University were speaking and learning in Latin. It remains very lively, with a friendly village feel with beautiful fountains and trees, as well as outstanding historic monuments. Notre-Dame Cathedral, The church of Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre, The Saint-Séverin Church, The medieval Cluny Museum, The Place St. Michel are some landmarks of this lively but busy area.

Day 2: Paris — Sightseeing City tour — Eiffel Tower — Versailles

The Guide will welcome the participants, check up if everybody is on board and the Sightseeing begins. The Guide will give You general Information about the French history and a lot of interesting things about France, its culture, architecture and history.

Day 3: Paris — Chablis — Beaune — Lyon

08:00 Departure from Your hotel, destination Chablis.
The guide will welcome You and the trip begins. The guide will give you general information about the French history connected to Burgundy. There are approx. 190 km to drive on a highway from Paris to Chablis. It takes in general around 2,5 to 3 hours.

Stop At: Chablis, Chablis, Yonne, Bourgogne-Franche-Comte
10.30-11.30 Arrival in Chablis village. Wine tasting during the visit of the winery «Domaine du Chardonnay»*. 9 Chablis Grand CRU wine tasting for a surcharge on site of €30 per person.

The Domaine du Chardonnay runs a vineyard of 34.5 hectares. The Chardonnay is the king of the variety, it allows to produce in Chablis, four different appellations such as Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru, and Chablis Grand Cru.

11.30 – 13.00 Free time in Chablis. You can enjoy the small city or we organize upon request a gastronomic dinner in Chablis. You pay direct to the Restaurant as a rule from €45 to €60 per person. There are other options for dinner.

14.30 – 15.15 Guided walking tour of the city center of Beaune.

Beaune is an ancient and historic town located between Lyon and Dijon and considered as the “Capital of Burgundy wines”. It is famous both for wine production and business. Beaune is one of the key wine centres in France as well. The annual wine auction of the Hospices de Beaune is the primary wine auction in France.
The town is surrounded by some of the world’s most famous wine villages. The cellars of many local producers are located in the historical center of Beaune.

Beaune is a walled city, with about half of the battlements, ramparts, and the moat, having survived in good condition. The central “old town” or “vieille ville” is extensive. Historically Beaune is intimately connected with the Dukes of Burgundy.

15.15 – 16.00 Visit of The Hospices de Beaune (Hôtel-Dieu) – a former charitable almshouse founded in 1443 as a hospital for the poor (Tickets included). The original hospital building is one of the finest examples of XV century Burgundian architecture and one of the best-preserved renaissance buildings in Europe.

Stop At: Patriarche Pere & Fils, 5 rue du College, 21200, Beaune France
16:00 – 17:30 Wine tasting with a professional sommelier of Burgundy wines in the cellars «The Patriarch and sons» . The Caves Patriarche are located in the center of Beaune. The 5 kilometers of tunnels that make it up run under the city and make it one of the largest cellars in Burgundy. It’s also a place full of history, founded in 1780, located in the former convent.

Day 4: Lyon — Orange — Avignon

Lyon is the third-largest city of France with its population of more than 0,5 Million inhabitans and the city where Auguste and Louis Lumière invented the cinematograph. It is located at the confluence of the rivers Rhône and Saône. Former capital of the Gauls at the time of the Roman Empire, Lyon became a major economic hub during the Renaissance. The city is recognised for its cuisine and gastronomy, as well as historical and architectural landmarks like the districts of Old Lyon, the Fourvière hill, the Presqu’île and the slopes of the Croix-Rousse which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Time for Lunch in a local Restaurant in Lyon. Our Guide will advise You about the local kitchen and restaurants.

16:00 – 17:00 Arrival in Orange. Visit of the Roman Amphitheatre in Orange.
The Roman Theatre of Orange is located in the city of Orange. It was built early in the 1st century AD and is the home of the summer opera festival, the Chorégies d’Orange.
It is one of the best preserved of all Roman theatres, which offered in Old Rome the entertainment free of charge to all citizens. In 1981, the Roman Theatre was put on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its outstanding preservation and architecture.

Day 5: Avignon — Palais des Papes — Nimes — Pont du Gard

Avignon is unofficial capital of Provence located on the left bank of the river Rhône with a population of nearby 100.000 inhabitants. About 16,000 are living in the ancient town centre enclosed by its medieval walls. Avignon is one of the few French cities which preserved its city walls. Between 1309 and 1377, during the Avignon Papacy, seven successive popes resided in Avignon. In 1348 Pope Clement VI bought the town from Joanna I of Naples. Papal control persisted until 1791 when, during the French Revolution, it became part of France. The historical centre including the Palais des Papes, the cathedral, and the Pont d’Avignon—became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. The medieval monuments and the annual Festival d’Avignon have helped to make the town a major centre for tourism.

10:00 – 11:30 Visit of the Palais des Papes.
Listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco, the Popes’ Palace is one of the 10 most visited monuments in France with 650,000 visitors per year. Built in the 14th century, this 15.000 m2 masterpiece of a monument is the largest medieval fortress and biggest gothic palace of Europe. 

Palais des Papes was built in less then 20 years starting in 1335, the Popes’ Palace is the amalgamation of two palaces built by two popes: Benedict XII, who built the Old Palace to the east and north, and his successor Clement VI who built the New Palace to the south and west. 

There are more than 25 rooms open to the public: the ceremonial halls, the courtroom, the consistory, the chapels with their magnificent frescoes by the famous painter Matteo Giovanetti and the popes’ private apartments. Starting in mid-August and continuing until early October, the Popes’ Palace is famous for an monumental video show and sensorial experience.

11:30 Departure from Avignon to Pont du Gard. Approx 30 km to drive.
12:00 – 13:30 Arrival at Pont du Gard. The Pont du Gard is an ancient Roman aqueduct bridge built in the first century AD to carry water over 50 km (31 mi) to the Roman colony Nîmes. The Pont du Gard is the highest of all Roman aqueduct bridges, as well as one of the best preserved. It was added to UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sites in 1985 because of its exceptional preservation, historical importance, and architectural ingenuity.

13:30 Departure to Nimes. It takes about 30 minutes (23 km).

15:30 – 16:30 Walking tour Nimes. Nîmes is located about 50 km from Avignon and has an estimated population of about 150 thousands inhabitants. Nîmes has a rich history dating back to the Roman Empire when the city was a regional capital with 50 to 60 thousand inhabitants. Several famous monuments are in Nîmes, such as the Arena of Nîmes and the Maison Carrée etc.

Day 6: Avignon — Roussillon — Moustiers-Sainte-Marie — Nice

09:00 Departure from Avignon to Roussillon. It takes about 1 hour drive on the picturesque National roads.
10:00 – 11:00 Short walking tour Roussillion and its famous natural Park. Roussillon is located within the borders of the Natural Regional Park of Luberon. It is a small Medieval village in Provence with population of about 1,300 inhabitants. It is famous for its large ochre deposits found in the clay surrounding the village. Ochres are pigments ranging from yellow and orange to red. One of the former ochre quarries can be visited via the “Sentier des Ocres” (Ochre Path).
11:00 – 12:00 Free time. Departure to Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. It takes about 2 hours (100 km)

14:00 You will stop at the mountain village of Moustiers Sainte-Marie which has been listed since 1981 as one of the most beautiful village of France. The church, the old village walls, the chapels, the aqueduct, the fountains represent an alliance of water and stone. The pastel colours of the tiles and the lime stones create a living architectural whole. Moustiers has approximately 700 residents.

Moustiers Sainte-Marie is a tourist destination and is also famous for its hand made ceramic production (’faïence’) which you can find easily.

09:00 – 11:00 Sightseeing tour Nice. Founded around 350 BC by Greeks of Marseille and located in the French Riviera Nice is the seventh most populous urban area in France. Nice is approximately 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) from the principality of Monaco and 30 kilometres (19 mi) from the French-Italian border. The natural environment of the Nice area and its mild Mediterranean climate came to the attention of the English upper classes in the second half of the 18th century. Nice attracted as well notable painters, such as Marc Chagall, Henri Matisse, Niki de Saint Phalle and Arman. Their work is commemorated in many of the city’s museums, including Musée Marc Chagall, Musée Matisse and Musée des Beaux-Arts. Proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2021 as “Nice, Winter Resort Town of the Riviera”, the city has the second largest hotel capacity in the country and it is one of its most visited cities, receiving 4 million tourists every year.

The Principality of Monaco, one of the most expensive and wealthiest places in the world, is a sovereign microstate on the French Riviera, bordered by France to the north, east and west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. The principality is governed under a form of constitutional monarchy, with Prince Albert II as head of state. Monaco is home to about 38 thousand residents with over 30% of millionaires among them. With an area of 2.1 km2 (0.81 sq mi), it is the second-smallest sovereign state in the world, after Vatican City. Economic development was spurred in the late 19th century with the opening of the state’s first casino, the Monte Carlo Casino, as well as a railway connection to Paris. Since then, Monaco’s mild climate, scenery and gambling facilities have contributed to the principality’s status as a tourist destination and recreation centre for the rich.
