The country’s 8000 year old wine-growing heritage takes us to the wine growing region of Kakheti, while we will also explore Stalin’s birthplace Gori, the charms of its capital Tbilisi, the cave cities of Vardzia and Uplistikhe and countless monasteries, cathedrals and fortresses, many of them UNESCO-listed.

What to Expect When Visiting Tbilisi, Georgia, Georgia

Day 1: Tbilisi

Our driver will be waiting for you at the pick-up point ready to transfer you to your hotel. No activities are planned for the arrival day.

Day 2: Tbilisi
Stop At: Tbilisi, Tbilisi
Today begins with a city tour of the Georgian capital Tbilisi. We will also visit the treasury at the National Museum and take a stroll along Rustaweli Avenue. Overnight in Tbilisi.

We visit the treasury of Georgian National Museum and take a stroll along Rustaweli Avenue, Tbilisi’s main street

Stop At: Narikala Fortress, Tbilisi Georgia
From the riverfront, we’ll hop on a cable car which will take us to the 4th century Narikala Fortress, which occupies a prominent position on a hill overlooking the city. The view’s fabulous.

Day 3: Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Prometheus Cave – Kutaisi
Stop At: The City-Museum Reserve of Mtskheta, Mtskheta Georgia
The former capital and religious heart of Georgia is located at Mtskheta. There we’ll show you the 6th century Djvari Church and the 11th century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral.

Stop At: Prometheus Cave, Kumistavi Georgia
We visit Prometheus Cave. Inside there’s a breathtaking array of stalactites and stalagmites.

Day 4: Kutaisi – Gelati – Bagrati – Akhaltsikhe
Stop At: Tskaltubo, Tskaltubo, Kutaisi, Imereti Region
Today we start at a local farmers’ market. Farmers have been bringing their produce to market for centuries and this tradition with all its sights, sounds and smells is a must for any visitor.

Stop At: Road to Gelati Monastery, Motsameta, Kutaisi 4600 Georgia
We check out the UNESCO-listed Gelati monastery complex and then move on to the 12th Bagrati Cathedral.

Stop At: Bagrati Cathedral, Bagrati Street, Kutaisi 4600 Georgia
We will visit Bagrati Cathedral in Kutaisi. Attracting many pilgrims and tourists, the Bagrati Cathedral forms part of the same heritage complex.

Stop At: Kutaisi, Kutaisi, Imereti Region
City tour around Kutaisi, the second largest city in the country.

Pass By: Akhaltsikhe, Akhaltsikhe, Samtskhe-Javakheti Region
We drive towards Akhaltsikhe, for dinner and overnight accommodation. Free time in the city.

Day 5: Akhaltsikhe – Vardzia – Rabati Fortress – Akhaltsikhe
Stop At: Vardzia, Erusheti Mountain, Aspindza 383770 Georgia
We’ll explore Vardzia – a subterranean complex consisting of 300 or so caves cut from the mountain.

Stop At: Rabati Castle, Akhaltsikhe Georgia
We visit the Ethnographic Museum housed in Rabati Fortress.

Day 6: Akhaltsikhe – Borjomi – Gori – Uplistikhe – Tbilisi
Stop At: Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park, Imereti Region
We drive towards Borjomi Park.

Stop At: Stalin Museum, 32 Stalin Avenue Stalin Park, Gori 1400 Georgia
Next stop is the town of Gori – the birthplace of Soviet leader Stalin where we visit a museum dedicated to his life.

Stop At: Uplistsikhe Complex Road, Kvakhvreli, Georgia
We pay a visit to Uplistikhe, another atmospheric cave city.
Duration: 2 hours

Afterwards we return to Tbilisi, for dinner accompanied by folk dancing.

Day 7: Tbilisi – Gombori – Alaverdi – Napareuli – Alaverdi – Gremi – Signagi
Stop At: Alaverdi Monastery, Alaverdi, Kutaisi Georgia
Visits to Alaverdi Monastery introduce us to the architectural heritage of the region.

Stop At: Gremi Citadel and Church of the Archangels, Gremi village, Gremi 383330 Georgia
Visit to Gremi Fortress.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Napareuli, Napareuli, Telavi, Kakheti Region
A wine tasting has been arranged in the Twins Wine Cellar in Napareuli.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Signagi, Signagi, Kakheti Region
City tour. This delightful town is almost completely encircled by a defensive wall linking 29 towers. From the fortifications the views across the valley are a sight to behold.

Day 8: Signagi – Bodbe – Tbilisi
Stop At: Bodbe Monastery of St. Nino, Signagi Georgia
Close to Signagi is the Bodbe Monastery of St Nino, which occupies a landscaped site a few kilometres from town. It’s a delight to stroll around the monastery and explore its gardens with their colourful flowerbeds.

Departing Bodbe, we return to Tbilisi where we’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay. Free time in the city.
