Day 1: Tour to Ozurgeti and Shemokmedi Monastery

Ozurgeti is the capital of the western Georgian province of Guria. It was formerly known as Macharadze or Makharadze (named in honor of Filipp Makharadze). It is a regional center of tea and hazelnut processing.

The Shemokmedi monastery is a Georgian Orthodox monastery located at the village of Shemokmedi in Georgia’s southwestern region of Guria. Founded in the 15th century, the Shemokmedi monastery functioned as a seat of a bishopric and burial ground of the Gurieli princely dynasty. It was a safe-house of church treasures and, over the centuries, had accumulated an extensive collection of various objects from other Georgian monasteries. Parts of the collection, which survived the 19th-century robbers, are now on display in Georgia’s museums.

Shekvetili is a village and sea resort in Ozurgeti Municipality, Guria, Georgia, located on the eastern Black Sea coast, at the mouth of the Natanebi river. Day 3: Tour to Historical Museum of Ozurgeti Municipality and Remains of Baths

The Ozurgeti History Museum is a historical-ethnographic museum located in Ozurgeti. It is the biggest museum in the Guria region.The museum hosts collections from Neolithic Age, unique examples of Early, Middle and Late Bronze Age Colkhian culture, burial ground stocks from Iron Age, ancient silver and golden items, numismatic (golden coin of Alexander the Great, Colkhian silver coins, Turkish coins, unique European silver coins), ethnographic (19th century working and living objects, fine art), archival books of historical value. Nowadays museum collections consists of more than 6000 exhibits, dated from the 9th millennium BC until today, including Napoleon Bonaparte`s rapier.

Day 4: Tour to Prometheus Cave and Gelati Monastery

Built in the Georgian Golden Age, Gelati was founded in 1106 by King David IV of Georgia and is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.The Gelati Monastery is in Kutaisi, Imereti Province, Georgia. It signifies the value of the Georgian Christian Orthodox religion. Inside the monastery there are murals and imagery surrounding the interior of the church dating back to the12th-17th centuries. It was one of the first monasteries in Georgia and adds to the Georgian culture.

Kolkheti National Park is a national park located in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and Guria in the historical region of Colchis in western Georgia.[1] The wetlands of Central Kolkheti are a Wetland of International Importance, a Ramsar Site.[3] It lies on a coastal plain on the Black Sea, between the mouths of the Tikori and Supsa and spanning the districts of Zugdidi, Khobi, Lanchkhuti, Senaki and Abasha. The park was established during 1998 and 1999 as part of Georgia’s Integrated Coastal Management Project, which was backed financially by the World Bank (WB) and the Global Environmental Facility (GEF). Kolkheti National Park covers an area of 28,940 hectares and with protected wetlands protected area spans to 33710 hectares,[3] incorporating the land of the former 500-hectare Kolkheti State Nature Reserve, which had been established in 1947, and its surrounding wetlands, including the lake Paliastomi.
