What to Expect When Visiting Tbilisi, Georgia, Georgia

Day 1: Tbilisi

Pass By: Tbilisi, Tbilisi
Our driver will be waiting for you at the pick-up point ready to transfer you to your hotel. No activities are planned for the arrival day.

Day 2: Tbilisi

Stop At: Tbilisi, Tbilisi
After breakfast at the hotel, you’ll enjoy guided sightseeing of the Georgian capital.

Stop At: Georgian National Museum, 3, Rustaveli Ave, Tbilisi 0105 Georgia
We visit the treasury of Georgian National Museum and take a stroll along Rustaweli Avenue, Tbilisi’s main street
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Narikala Fortress, Tbilisi Georgia
From the riverfront, we’ll hop on a cable car which will take us to the 4th century Narikala Fortress, which occupies a prominent position on a hill overlooking the city. The view’s fabulous.

Day 3: Tbilisi – Signagi – Telavi

Stop At: Signagi, Signagi, Kakheti Region
It’s a relatively short drive to the characterful town of Signagi, the most important place in the winelands of the Kakheti region. You’ll walk the walls of this 18th century royal town, which are punctuated by twenty-three towers. The views over the surrounding countryside from this lofty vantage point stretch for miles. You’ll visit one of the town’s acclaimed wineries and enjoy a wine flight to learn more about Georgia’s long history with wine and the techniques used in its production.

Stop At: Bodbe Monastery of St. Nino, Signagi Georgia
On the edge of town is the delightful Bodbe Monastery. You’ll enjoy a guided tour before driving to Telavi.

Pass By: Telavi, Telavi, Kakheti Region
Departing Bodbe, we return to Telavi where we’ll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Telavi – Alaverdi – Napareuli – Gremi – Telavi

Stop At: Alaverdi Monastery, Alaverdi, Kutaisi Georgia
Visits to Alaverdi Monastery introduce us to the architectural heritage of the region.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Gremi Citadel and Church of the Archangels, Gremi village, Gremi 383330 Georgia
We’ll move on to explore the the ancient Church of Gremi and the fortress.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Napareuli, Napareuli, Telavi, Kakheti Region
Next you’ll drive to Napareuli where a visit has been scheduled to the “Twins Cellar” Winery. There’s an interesting museum to explore and you’ll have the chance to taste wine stored in traditional kvevris, earthenware jars which are sunk into the ground.

Returning to Telavi in time for our evening meal.

Day 5: Telavi – Tsinandali – Vardisubani – Tbilisi

Stop At: House-museum of Chavchavadze, Tsinandali Georgia
After breakfast a visit has been arranged to the former residence of Alexander Chavchavadze. This prince was born in St Petersburg in the late 18th century, the son of the Kakheti-Kartli ambassador to Russia.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Tsinandali Palace, Tsinandali village, Tsinandali Georgia
The palace and gardens that he commissioned in Tsinandali are spectacular, with lavish furnishings and formal planting. The home is as colourful as the man who created it and a joy to discover.

Stop At: Vardisubani, Vardisubani, Kakheti Region
You’ll be driven to Vardisubani, where you’ll watch a local artisan create amphorae, the earthenware wine pots used to ferment and store wine.

Day 6: Tbilisi – Mtskheta and Iago’s winery – Tbilisi

Stop At: The City-Museum Reserve of Mtskheta, Mtskheta Georgia
The former capital and religious heart of Georgia is located at Mtskheta. There we’ll show you the 6th century Djvari Church and the 11th century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Iago’s Wine, Villae Chardakni, Mtskheta 3300 Georgia
On leaving the cathedral, you’ll be driven to Iago’s Winery in Chardakhi for a wine tasting, after which you’ll return to Tbilisi.

Day 7: Tbilisi – Chateau Mukhrani – Tbilisi

Stop At: Chateau Mukhrani, Tsereteli akakis gamz. 116, Mukhrani 3309 Georgia
Your final wine tasting will be at the Chateau Mukhrani. Built in 1512 as the estate of a prince, wine production was established here in the 19th century. Abandoned during the Soviet era, the winery was resurrected in the 21st century and as a result, it boasts some of the most up to date technology of any winery in the country. The reconstructed cellar has space to store over 1000 barrels of wine.

After a wine tasting, there’ll be free time back in Tbilisi. This evening, round off your trip with a gala dinner where you’ll be treated to a performance of traditional music and dancing.
