Tbilisi Trip Overview

This is 4 days (3 nights) tour throughout which guests will spend two nights in Kakheti region, one night in Kazbegi and will visit the ancient capital of Mtskheta on the way back from Kazbegi.

During the tour guests will see Georgian places of interest, get the information about history & culture, try Georgian food specialties & awesome wines as well as participate in masterclasses of famous Georgian dishes.

Mtskheta is an ancient Georgian capital with two Unesco World Heritage sites and small, high quality wineries nearby.

Day 1: Tbilisi – David Gareja – Sighnaghi

Pass By: Sagarejo, Sagarejo, Kakheti Region
Pass Sagarejo without stopping.

Pass By: Udabno, Udabno, Kakheti Region
Pass Udabno village without stopping.

Stop At: David Gareja Monastery, Mount Gareja, Udabno Georgia
Visit Lavra monastery the most important part of David Gareja complex and have a walk through the rainbow mountains.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Sagarejo, Sagarejo, Kakheti Region
Stop at Nodar’s winery near Sagarejo. Nodar is a young wine maker who produces bio wine in Kvevri (clay vessel). Guests will try several wines of Nodar and continue the road to Sighnaghi.
Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Badiauri, Badiauri, Kakheti Region
Badiauri is a village with many bakeries where bread is being baked with the traditional method in a special oven. Guests will bake bread themselves and will try it with local cheese.

Stop At: Bodbe Monastery of St. Nino, Signagi Georgia
Bodbe is a beautiful monastery from where beautiful views on Alazani valley open up.

Stop At: Sighnaghi, Sighnaghi, Kakheti Region
Sighnaghi is a small, beautiful town where guests will try wine and have dinner.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Day 2: Sighnaghi – Velistsikhe – Kvareli – Telavi

Stop At: Sighnaghi, Sighnaghi, Kakheti Region
Guests will have a beautiful morning walk in Sighnaghi.

Stop At: Tunnel Winery Khareba’s, Meurneoba District Kakheti, Kvareli 383320 Georgia
Khareba wine tunnel is a must visit place. It is the biggest wine tunnel in the Caucasus and its structure is fascinating. The temperature inside the tunnel is constantly 16 degrees Celsius. The humidity and constant temperature inside the tunnel create best conditions for wine ageing.

Stop At: Gremi Citadel and Church of the Archangels, Gremi village, Gremi 383330 Georgia
Gremi village once used to be the center of Kakheti region. The monastery has beautiful frescoes and the view from the citadel is nice.

Stop At: GHVARDZELASHVILI’S MARANI, Kondoli, Georgia
Giorgi Ghvardzelashvili is a very good winemaker from the village of Kondoli. Wines and lunch offered at his family owned wine cellar are one of the best ones.

Stop At: Tsinandali Palace, Tsinandali village, Tsinandali Georgia
Tsinandali estate consists of a small palace and a huge botanical garden. Both the palace and the garden are very beautiful and it is a must see place.

Stop At: Togonidze’s Wine Cellar, 2200, Shalauri / შალაური, Telavi, Georgia
Gia Togonidze produces very high quality wines while his wife is a perfect chef and the blend of good wine, good food and very good people creates special atmosphere in their home. Guests will spend the evening in this winery.

Day 3: Telavi – Gudauri – Kazbegi/Stepantsminda.

Stop At: Ananuri Fortified Castle Ensemble, Georgian Military Highway Near Zhinvali Reservoir, Ananuri 1803 Georgia
Ananuri is a late medieval fortress with two beautiful churches and an awesome view on Jhinvali reservoir.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Gudauri, Gudauri, Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region
Gudauri is a beautiful ski resort on the way to Kazbegi. If the ski lifts are open guests will be able to take a ride and enjoy the beautiful views.
Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Russian Georgian Friendship Monument, Georgian Military Highway, Gudauri 383085 Georgia
View from the so called “Friendship” monument is awesome. There the guests will get the information why the monument is called the “friendship” one and will hear all the details regarding it.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Tsanareti, E117, Arsha, Georgia
Tsanareti is a very good restaurant on the way to Kazbegi/Stepantsminda in the village of Arsha. In the restaurant guests will try local food specialties.

Stop At: Gergeti Trinity Church, Near the Village of Gergeti, Stepantsminda Georgia
Gergeti Trinity Church is a 14th century monastery with the background of 5000 meter high Mount Kazbegi. The church is a very important religious and cultural monument while the views from there are breathtaking.
Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Gveleti Waterfall, Stepantsminda Georgia
Gveleti waterfalls are located on the way to the Georgian-Russian border near the village of Gveleti. Both waterfalls are beautiful and in both cases a small hike is necessary to reach them.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Dariali, Dariali, Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region
Guests will visit Georgian-Russian border located in Dariali gorge.
Duration: 10 minutes

Stop At: Mkinvartsveri, Georgia
In the evening guests will have a masterclass of famous Georgian dish Khinkali (dumpling) in a local family. Guests will cook Georgian dumplings themselves with the help of a chef sure and later will try them. Moreover, they will try other local food specialties as well cooked in a local family.

Day 4: Kazbegi – Zhinvali reservoir – Mtskheta – Tbilisi

Stop At: Zhinvali, Georgia
Guests will stop at one of the viewpoints of Zhinvali reservoir to take photos and enjoy the view.

Stop At: Iago’s Wine, Villae Chardakni, Mtskheta 3300 Georgia
Iago is one of the best winemakers in the history of Georgia. He produces only limited number of bottles per year and his winery is considered as one of the best ones in the whole country. At his winery guests will try Iago’s awesome wines and tastiest food.

Stop At: Jvari Church, Mtskheta Georgia
7th century Jvari monastery is a Unesco World Heritage site located in Mtskheta. The location of the monastery is awesome owing to the fact that it is located high on the hill, overlooks the old part of Mtskheta and it is possible to see the beautiful confluence of two rivers from there.

Stop At: Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, Arsukidze, Mtskheta 3300 Georgia
11th century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral is also a Unesco World Heritage site located in Mtskheta. It is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Georgia and is a must see place.
