Tbilisi Trip Overview

Official name of Kazbegi is Stepantsminda. Surounded by gigantic mountains, Kazbegi is a picturesque settlement overlooked by the biggest peak of all – Mount Kazbek (5047m) – The Sameba Church in Gergeti is beautifully situated on the hill above the town and provides splendid views of Mt. Kazbek. The region, with its many valleys and peaks is one of the most popular walking destinations in Georgia. The nearby Chaukhi Mountains provide superb rock-climbing, with numerous routes. The Gudauri ski resort located just the other side of the Cross Pass on the southern slopes of the Caucasus offers the best skiing and heliskiing in the Caucasus.

The village of Juta is one of the highest settlements (2200 m) in the municipality of Kazbegi, and is located 24 km from Stepantsminda (8 km of paved road, and the remainder is a dirt road). The Chaukhi mountain range, located near the village, is situated on the main ridge of the Caucasus mountain range, at the source of the river Bakurkhevi.

Itinerary

Day 1: Tbilisi –– Stephantsminda – Juta

Stop At: Jinvali Water Reservoir, 40 km to the North from Tbilisi, Tbilisi Georgia
In the morning 10:00 meeting with the guide at the lobby of the hotel and drive to Stepantsminda along Georgian military road. During the excursion guests will see Jinvali water reserve.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Ananuri Fortified Castle Ensemble, Georgian Military Highway Near Zhinvali Reservoir, Ananuri 1803 Georgia
Ananuri fortress, which had built in XIV-XVII centuries, than drive though Aragvi gorge, via winter ski resort Gudauri , and will cross the Cross path (2395m a.s).

Stop At: Gergeti Trinity Church, Near the Village of Gergeti, Stepantsminda Georgia
Guests will also taste local mineral water, which contains iron and then arrive to town Stephantsminda, the center of Kazbegi region. Drive to Gergeti trinity church (2200m a.s) If you are lucky and weather is clear, you will see mount Kazbegi (5047m a.s).

Stop At: Gveleti Waterfall, Stepantsminda Georgia
Drive village Gveleti and then trek to Gveleti waterfall.

Day 2: Juta tracking – Tbilisi

Stop At: Chaukhi Pass, HR48+32W, Juta, Georgia
In Juta we will see exciting views to Chaukhi pass. Chaukhi pass looks like Italian dolomites. We must visit climbers camp and then continue our way to reach the Chaukhi pass (10km), it’s not light walk, it’s enough difficult trekking rote (it’s about 20 km. bout way) , if there will not any mist we will see Abudelauri lakes (white, blue and green) then we must go back (10 km) and drive to Tbilisi.

Stop At: Abudelauri lakes, Roshka Georgia
If there will not any mist we will see Abudelauri lakes (white, blue and green) then we must go back(10 km) and drive to Tbilisi.
Duration: 2 hours
