Stop At: Zhinvali Reservoir, Georgia
Zhinvali reservoir – Despite the fact that the word “reservoir” can create an association of a territory with a large number of iron reservoirs for water, everything is exactly the oppoite. Fortress Ananuri – Ananuri fortress is located 70 kilometers from the capital. Back in 1723, King Teimuraz and the Kakhetians hid here from the attacks of the Avars, who unsuccessfully tried to besiege and seize the fortress. Ananuri (end of the 16th century), the main stronghold on the Georgian Military Highway, was very popular with travelers, as it is located at the confluence of the Aragvi and the Wajathevi River.

Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) – So often described in poetic and prosaic works of various writers, Kazbek is the second highest point in Georgia after the “Shkhara”. It is unique and the fact that the territory of Stepantsminda is a temple called “Gergeti”. It was built in the 14th century. The construction of the temple is worth special attention, because all materials were manually raised to a huge height.
