What to Expect When Visiting T’bilisi, Tbilisi, Georgia

Spend a memorable day in ancient city of Mtskheta, Gori and Uplistsikhe. Stop At: Gori, Gori, Shida Kartli Region

At 09:00, our guide and driver will meet you at the pickup place to begin our tour to historical places of Georgia. First destination is Gori, city in eastern Georgia.We will be there at 10:30. For many foreigners Gori is principally known as the birthplace of Joseph Stalin the leader of the Soviet Union, where we will explore his house-museum. The Museum retains its Soviet-era characteristics. Enshrined within a Greco-Italianate pavilion is a small wooden hut, in which Stalin was born in 1878 and spent his first four years.In museum, the exhibits are divided into six halls in roughly chronological order, and contain many items actually or allegedly owned by Stalin. There is also much illustration by way of documentation, photographs, paintings and newspaper articles. To one side of the museum is Stalin’s personal railway carriage. It was sent to the museum on being recovered from the railway yards at Rostov-on-Don in 1985.
We will stay one hour and a half in Gori.

Stop At: Uplistsikhe, Gori, Georgia

At 12:30- we will visit Uplistsikhe, an ancient rock-hewn town in eastern Georgia. It contains various structures dating from the Early Iron Age to the Late Middle Ages, and is notable for the unique combination of pagan and Christian architecture. The earliest traces of human presence in Uplistsikhe date back to the end of the second millennium BC. Its earliest remaining structures are from the beginning of the first millennium AD. We will have 2 hours to explore this unique place.

At 14:30, after visiting Uplistsikhe, we will have opportunity to relax and have lunch in the restaurant in Gori, where we will taste Georgian traditional cuisine and enjoy with environment. We will have one hour for lunch.

Stop At: Mtskheta, Mtskheta, Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region

At 16:30, after lunch, on the back way, we will visit city of Mtskheta, where we will discover Svetitskhoveli temple, the religious center for all Christians for many centuries. Further proving its importance to Christianity, there is a legend that a seamless robe of Jesus Christ is buried within the temple. Another legend states that King Giorgi ordered the hand of amputate Svetitskhoveli’s architect, so that he could never recreate something so beautiful ever again. Small fragments of paintings, which date back to the 11th century let you live through the lives of ancient Georgia, leaving you amazed and stunned. The temple is on another UNESCO World Heritage listing because of its glorious architecture. We will have one hour and a half to discover this unique place. At 18:00, we will leave Svetitskhoveli.

At 18:00, we will leave Mtskheta and after half an hour, we will be back in Tbilisi.
