Stop At: Freedom Square, T’bilisi, Georgia

Your tour guide you will see at 10 am on the Freedom Square, at Pushkin bust ( in front of the Panorama Hotel in a small square with fountain ) or at the statue of the griffin(near Tbilisi city council historical building. )
At the beginning of the XIX century Freedom Square area was the outskirts of the city. Under the overpass near the square are the ruins of the city walls that were destroyed after the establishment of the Russian administration in Tbilisi.

Pushkin monument is located in a small park, right side of Freedom square, since 1890. From here begins Pushkin street.
This bust , one of the first monuments of the great russian poet on the territory of the former Russian Empire.
Pushkin bust looks at a massive building that is of interest to tourists. The classic – style building was built in 1835 by the Italian architect Bernardazzi .
This building was Theological Seminary, from which in due time was excluded Stalin
Now here is the Museum of arts .Museum kept treasures of Georgia from feudal era, which General de Gaulle handed to Stalin after World War II, completion.
Treasures in France proved in 1921 year. Took them out the bourgeois government of Georgia.You can see these treasures. Museum ticket cost 3 GEL.

Previously on the square stood the famous for its beauty across Europe, the Opera house.
It was built by on the initiative of field Marshal count Mikhail Vorontsov and by project Italian architect, Scudieri in 1851.
On 11 October 1874 the Tbilisi Opera house was destroyed by fire. Suspected merchant Kazarov was caught and 9 years sent to Siberia
From Opera theater survived only griffins, of the four only two. By the way, you can find them even today on Freedom square, near the building of the city Council.
The current view of the Tbilisi city council building was given by architect Paul Stern in 1882. He was a supporter of Eastern exotics in architecture. In this building, over 100 protesters were killed and 300 wounded in 1905 by police of the Russian Tsar.
In the Soviet period in the center of the square stood a monument to Lenin . Now in this place the pillar 40 meters high and a titanium sculpture of St. George . The Author Of The monument Zurab Tsereteli.
From Freedom square begins Rustaveli Avenue, which is decorated with many remarkable works of architecture . There are a number of administrative and cultural buildings, which are diverse in their artistic design, but are harmonious architectural ensemble of Rustaveli Avenue. Special beauty has part of the Avenue , where is located Kashveti Church and classical gymnasium.

Stop At: Rezo Gabriadze Marionette Theater, Shavteli St., 26, Tbilisi 0105 Georgia

Rezo Gabriadze is famous worldwide.He is the author of more than 35 films.In 1981 Rezo Gabriadze founded Marionette Theatre in Tbilisi, located at 13 shavteli Street in old town, next to anchiskhati Basilica. Rezo gabriadze is the author, director, artist and musical performer of his plays. This theatre also distinguished by the fact that puppet plays are for adults. In 2010, with Rezo Gabriadze’s project and direct participation, a unique clock tower was built next to the Marionette Theatre in Tbilisi. Its facade is decorated with thousands of details which were painted by Rezo Gabriadze himself.There are no tickets on the performances of this theater. But you can order to me in advance and I will book on your dates.
As for the puppet Tower itself ,usually here tourists are looking forward to the appearance of puppets.

Stop At: Anchiskhati Basilica, Loane Shavteli, Tbilisi Georgia

After the capital of Georgia was moved from Mtskheta to Tbilisi(beginning of VI century), the city was soon decorated with new secular and church buildings. One of the first was built Anchiskhati Church.Anchiskhati was built on the right bank of the Mtkvari river during the reign of the Dachi –son Vakhtang Gorgasali.

Anchiskhati is one of the oldest monuments of Church architecture that has been preserved in our days. Anchiskhati is a three-nave Basilica. For centuries, it has been restored and rebuilt several times .But basically the Church has preserved its original appearance .
In the 50s of the last century, the Church was liberated from the ugly layers of the XIX century. With some walls removed painting of the XIX century, under which found frescoes Dating from the XVII century.

The Anchiskhati Church got its name in the XVII century from the great icon,decorated with a hammered framing of Beka Opizari.Icon was transferred in Tbilisi from the village of Anchi . This remarkable work of art ,created during the rise of the feudal culture of Georgia (XII century),is now kept in the Museum of arts of Georgia with other treasures.

Stop At: The Bridge of Peace, Tbilisi Georgia

The Bridge of Peace is a bow-shaped pedestrian bridge over the MTKVARI River in Old Tbilisi.
The length of the bridge 150 metres .Bridge providing a unique view of Metekhi Church, Narikala Fortress and statue of city’s founder Vakhtang Gorgasali on one side, and Baratashvili Bridge and Presidential palace on the other.
The bridge was designed by the Italian architect Michele De Lucchi, who had also designed the buildings of the Presidential Administration of Georgia and Ministry of Internal Affairs; the lighting design was created by French lighting designer Philippe Martinaud. The structures of the bridge was built in Italy and transported to Tbilisi in 200 trucks.

Stop At: Metekhi Cathedral, Metekhi St, Tbilisi Georgia

On the left Bank of the Mtkvari (Kura) river,on a high bare rock rises above the old town , Church of the virgin,in common language called Metekhi. Built on the top of a cliff , on the place where Mtkvari turns to the East ,the Church with its monumental grandeur gives a unique charm to this area of the city

The rock rising from the waters of the Mtkvari, forms a platform that is a natural basis for the Church. Georgian architects skillfully used the natural landscape and geographical environment in order to create a winning architectural ensemble.
For centuries Metekhi plateau symbolized the capital of Georgia
18 October 1958 , in connection with the celebration of the 1500th anniversary of Tbilisi ,at Metekhi plateau, near the Cathedral, the foundation was laid of a monument to the king Vakhtang Gorgasali ,who founded the capital of his Kingdom.

Stop At: Kartlis Deda, On the top of Sololaki hill, Tbilisi Georgia

Sololaki ridge alley originates from Kojori highway and stretches along the mountain terrace to the ruins of the ancient fortress Narikala
In the middle part of the alley is the ruins of ” Shakhis Takhti”and opposite the former Museum of the city of Tbilisi stands the monumental figure of a Georgian woman-with a cup and a sword in her hands. Erected in 1958 the sculpture represents the unwavering spirit and heroic past of Georgia. The Cup symbolizes the hospitality of Georgians ,and the sword is an inseparable friend of the freedom –loving Georgian people for centuries of its history.
Excellent views , from Sololaki alley on Tbilisi Botanical garden and Old Tbilisi ,are open. Two Hiking trails, Kojori highway and the cable car of the Rike Park connected Sololaki ridge alley with the city.

Stop At: Narikala Fortress, Tbilisi Georgia

Tbilisi fortress was first mentioned in the Georgian chronicle in connection with the events of the second half of the fourth century. The fortress was built of bastions and complex system of fortifications, that served as a refuge for the population of Tbilisi during the invasion.
The fortress was repeatedly destroyed, restored and rebuilt. The last time was reconstructed in the XVII century, in the reign of king Rostom , when some destroyed fortifications were erected anew, and the walls of the fortress were thoroughly fortified.
In the XVII century Tbilisi fortress got the name Narikala. So same call and in our days
Now the ruins of the fortress represent an exotic canvas . From the height of the Sololaki ridge look at the city these silent witnesses of its centuries-old history.

Stop At: National Botanical Garden of Georgia, Botanical St., 1, Tbilisi 0105 Georgia

The garden stretches in a wide gorge between the Sololaki ridge and mount Tabor.In the center it a small river Tsavkisi , through which thrown beautiful iron bridge,under it water falls down from cliff
Previously, there was a Royal garden.In the XVI century in the garden were Royal palaces.After Georgia’s accession to Russia, the garden was given the name-the state garden,and in 1845 it was renamed the Botanical garden.
Now the garden belongs to the Institute of botany of the Georgian Academy of Sciences. Here in a large number grow unique cultures of plants, local and imported tree species, over which are monitored by researchers of the Institute
The site near the waterfall is one of the most beautiful in the garden. Tourists turned it into a place of photography.

Stop At: Dzveli Tbilisi Sulphur Waterfall, Botanikuri st 1 Old Town, Tbilisi 0105 Georgia

Via the bath district runs tiny river having 3 names. Its beautiful canyon was hidden during decades, and only now it was reconstructed – now we can see its historical appearance.
Here you can find natural waterfall in the hart of city, the bridge of love and the metal stairs, which can go up to the Tbilisi Mosque and after go to the entrance of the botanical garden or to Narikala fortress

Visiting the sulfur baths is a definite must-do when you are in Tbilisi, especially if you are here in October to March when it’s much colder. It is a really enjoyable experience
About 1600 years ago the sulphur springs were discovered on the right bank of the river Mtkvari in Kartli kingdom and Kings decided to build a city surrounding them. And so, Tbilisi (warm city) was born. Now days the Tbilisi sulphur springs are somewhat of a tourist attraction and many people visit them daily for a specific kisa massage beneath the domed roofs.
Where does the hot water come from?
The water comes from Tabori mount and contains sulphur. Water temperature approximately 40°-50°C.
What are the benefits of sulphur baths?
Besides being incredibly relaxing and making you feel toasty on a cold day, sulphur baths are also believed to treat skin problems such as eczema and dry scalp. They are also said to help with arthritic joints, digestion problems and even insomnia.
