Τhe trip to the area of Argolis promises a unique one-day experience, with beautiful landscapes and archaeological adventures!
Our first stop will be at the Corinth Canal, which connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, turning an extended area of land into an island. We will then continue by car towards the archaeological site of Mycenae.

Mycenae was the prehistoric kingdom of mythical Agamemnon, who dominated the Aegean Sea and most of southern mainland Greece after the destruction of the Minoan Empire. He was also famous for leading the Greeks against Troy in the reputed Trojan War. In Mycenae you will admire the famous Lions’ Gate, in the middle of the enormous prehistoric defense city wall. You will also explore the site of a royal set of graves, unearthed by the world-famous archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann, where golden masks, weapons, cups and crowns were discovered. Finally, you may also follow the route uphill towards the ruins of the palace and the underground cistern, before you take a look at the local museum’s collection if you so choose. You will complete your visit with the vaulted tomb of king Agamemnon near the ruins of the prehistoric citadel, which once constituted one of the greatest and oldest civilizations that flourished in Greece.

Upon departure from Mycenae, we will drive through the plain of Argos, renowned for its orange groves, before arriving in the charming town of Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece (1829 -1833).
The remarkable old town of Nafplio is abundant in neoclassical buildings, which one admires while walking on its cobbled streets. The city lies under an imposing rock, on top of which one of the country’s best Venetian castles was built (Palamidi).
The medieval quarter of Nafplio with its narrow, stone-paved streets and beautiful flowers or the port-area restaurants that offer an impeccable view of the sea and the small castle Bourtzi, are ideal choices for your lunch break.

Stop At: The Great Theatre of Epidaurus, Ethniki Odos Isthmou Archaias Epidavrou, Epidavros 210 52 Greece
Our last stop will be the visit of the Theater of Epidaurus, about 30 minutes from Nafplio. It is the largest and best preserved ancient theater in Greece, built near an area that functioned as a sanctuary and a healing center dedicated to the Greek god of medicine Asclepius. The reputed Asclepiion, included in the list of World Heritage Sites, was one of the largest medical centers of continental Greece and was later on destroyed by earthquakes and abandoned. The 4th-BC Theater of Epidaurus accommodated up to 14.000 spectators who arrived at Epidaurus to enjoy live music and theatrical performances. After its renovation it became a major venue for a big number of performances every summer, where plenty of artists, including Maria Callas, have performed.
After Epidaurus depart for Athens following a scenic route with an astonishing view of the Aegean Sea.
