On the way to the majestic Zeus Cave, you will visit an ancient Byzantine monastery, renowned for its beautiful frescos and a “miraculous” icon, and a ceramic workshop, one of the oldest Cretan craftsmanship. When you finally arrive at the Cave of Zeus you can have a ride on donkeys until the entrance, before exploring the cave with its stalactites and stalagmites, where, according to the mythology, titan Rhea gave birth to Zeus.
Next, you will be taken to an authentic place in the heart of Lassithi Plateau, where you will deeply understand what Cretan “philoxenia” (hospitality) really means. There you will enjoy delicious Cretan dishes cooked in an outdoor oven accompanied by a unique selection of Cretan wine tastings, which are perfectly paired with local delicacies.
