After a short drive, you will reach the palace of Knossos, which is just outside the city. The large archaeological site dates back to the millennium-old Minoan civilization and includes frescoes and baths. The Palace of Knossos is the largest Minoan palace in Crete and is a European Heritage Site.
Over the years, Knossos was repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt. It has been able to prove to date about 800 rooms, it is believed that the number was much higher.
