Driving to Oia is by itself a unique experience as the road taking us there is surrounded by cliffs and seascapes. Oia is located on the northern tip of the island, high on the ridge of a cliff, and has the best views of the island. In the village you can shop or walk around to discover the typical architecture of Santorini with its characteristic white houses dug into the volcanic soil.

Stop At: Wine Museum Koutsogiannopoulos, Epar. Od. Messarias – Archeas Thiras, Vothonas 847 00 Greece

Next, we visit a local winery for some wine tasting (4 glasses of wine).

Stop At: Megalochori – Traditional Village, Megalochori Greece

Our next stop give us the chance to break away from the big crowds of tourists and get familiar with the peaceful side of Santorini.

Megalochori, one of the prettiest and quietest little villages of the island. A beautiful bell-towered archway welcomes you to Megalochori, which is located inland, away from the caldera cliffs.

Megalochori is an actual maze of extremely narrow cobblestone streets winding through hundreds of traditional whitewashed houses and churches painted in bright blue shades, so typical of the Cycladic islands.

We can relax at one of the two tavernas at the main square of the village.

Stop At: Perissa Black Sand Beach, Perissa 847 03 Greece

The volcanic black beach of Perissa offers us an impressive combination of black lava sand and crystal blue waters that makes it one of the most popular beaches in Santorini. The beach is fully organized with sun umbrellas, several beach bars, taverns and sea sport facilities.

Stop At: Red Beach, Akrotiri Greece

One of Santorini’s favorite beaches, the famous Red Beach, is very close to the ancient site of Akrotiri. The red and black volcanic rocks create a unique and somewhat eerie landscape, which makes the Red Beach a most popular destination.
