Day 1: Bangalore – Nagarhole National Park (230kms/ 5hrs approx)

Stop At: Mysuru Palace, Sayyaji Rao Rd Agrahara, Chamrajpura, Mysuru (Mysore) 570001 India
Pick up from your Bangalore city hotel and drive to Nagarhole National Park. Enroute visit Mysore –
Mysore Palace – Built during 1897-1912, the Mysore Palace dominates the skyline of the district. It was designed by the English architect, Henry Irwin. The Mysore Palace is a three storied structure constructed in the Indo Saracenic style. The golden howdah (elephant seat) along with intricately carved doors and fabulous paintings are among few other treasures of the Mysore Palace.

Jaganmohan Palace was built during the rule of Krishnaraja Wodeyar in 1861 to celebrate the marriage of his daughter. The palace is situated to the west of Mysore Palace and happened to be the residence of the king and his family from 1861 to 1912.

Chamudi Hill Temple – located on the top of Chamundi Hills the temple was named after Chamundeshwari or Durga, the fierce form of Shakti, a tutelary deity held in reverence for centuries by Mysore Maharajas. Chamundi is believed to be the incarnation of Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva.

Nandi Bull – located at the top of Chamundi hills in Mysore. More than 350 years old, this is one of the oldest icons in Mysore. According to Hindu mythology Nandi is considered as the vehicle (mount) of Lord Shiva, the lord of destruction. In front of every Shiva temple, on the court facing the shrine, you can see the image of a Nandi.

Stop At: St. Philomena’s Church, Mysuru (Mysore) India
St. Philomena Church – one of the oldest churches in India. It is over 200 years old. Initially over 250 years ago there was a small church in its place. When the capital of Mysore state was move from Srirangapatnam to Mysore city in 1799, many British officers and soldiers came and settled down in Mysore.
Continue drive to Nagarhole National Park and check in at a resort. Rest time free and easy to relax. Dinner & overnight at hotel.

Nagarhole is named after Nagarhole (Cobra river in the local language, Kannada), a winding river which runs eastwards through its center. It was originally constituted into a sanctuary in the year 1955 covering an area of 258 sq. Kms and subsequently enlarged to include the adjoining areas of Mysore district and now extends over an area of 643.39 sq. kms which was given the status of a National Park in 1983. It is situated between the two districts of Mysore and Kodagu in the state of Karnataka. The park stretches at the foothills of the Western Ghats spreading down the Brahmagiri hills and south towards Kerala state. River Kabini separates the Nagarhole National Park from the Bandipur National Park. Lakshmana and Teentha rivers flow nearby the Nagarhole National Park and the entire park area is enveloped in greenery and flora with waterfalls adding to its beauty truly makes the Nagarhole National Park a beautiful habitat for wildlife animals.
