Day 2: In Kochi (Guided Sightseeing Tour) & Kochi to Munnar (By Road)

Stop At: Mattancherry Palace, Palace Road, Kochi (Cochin) India
Popularly known as the Dutch Palace, the Mattancherry Palace is a Portuguese palace in Mattancherry, Kochi in the state of Kerala. Mattancherry Palace is now a museum displaying paraphernalia belonging to the rajas of Kochi. Visit this destination to learn about the fascinating history of Kerala through the medium of irreplaceable artefacts and embellishments.

Also known as Cochin Jewish Synagogue or Mattancerry Synagogue, Paradesi Synagogue is the oldest active synagogue, not just in Kochi but in the Commonwealth of Nations. Located in the Jew Town area of Kochi, the synagogue was constructed in 1567 and is one of the seven synagogues of the Malabar Yehudan or Yehudan Mappila. The synagogue shares its walls with the Mattancherry Palace and was built by Spanish- speaking Jews; therefore, it is also known as ‘Paradesi’ meaning ‘foreigners’.

Jew Street will always tickle that nostalgic bone in you. As you stroll through these streets, there is always something that triggers a mellifluous trip down memory lane. The antique sellers love having a chat and keeping you informed about the origins of the items and their own shops. Their lives are colourful reminders of a once strong community whose numbers have dwindled considerably over the years. With its famous Paradesi Synagogue and Jew Street, Kochi is the best place in the State to experience the lifestyle and culture of the Jewish community in the sub-continent.

Popularly known as Cheenavala, the Chinese Fishing Nets are the most iconic and popular attractions of Kerala peculiar to Kochi located next to Fort Kochi. One of the significant cultural symbols of Kerala, the spot is also one of the most photogr aphed places in all of town, attracting hordes of tourists and photographers on an everyday basis. The image of the beautifully silhouetted fishing nets against the backdrop of clear waters at sunset is really appeasing and makes up for a breathtakingly beautiful sight.

Day 3: In Munnar (Sightseeing Tour)

Stop At: Rajamalai (Eravikulam) National Park, Munnar India
Eravikulam National Park is administered by the Kerala Department of Forests and Wildlife, Munnar Wildlife Division, together with the nearby Mathikettan Shola National Park, Anamudi Shola National Park, Pambadum Shola National Park, Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary and the Kurinjimala Sanctuary. The Western Ghats, Anamalai Sub-Cluster, including all of Eravikulam National Park, is under consideration by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for selection as a World Heritage Site.

Stop At: Echo Point, Munnar-Top Station Highway, Munnar 685616 India
A very beautiful place to visit when in Munnar, which is itself situated at the confluence of three mountain streams Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala and hence is a very scenic place to visit, Echo Point got its name from the natural echo phenomenon that occurs here. Echo Point is situated at a serene, calm lake bank. When you scream here, you’ll be hearing your voice echoed back at you. Placed at an altitude of about 600 ft, Echo Point is located 15 kms away from Munnar, on the way to Top Station.

Stop At: Mattupetty Dam, Munnar – Top Station Hwy, Mattupetty, Kerala 685616, India
Mattupetty Dam is a strong gravity dam which was constructed for power generation and water conservation. Located in the Munar hills near the Anamudi peak, the dam is situated 1700 meters high. The green valleys and pleasant ambience surrounding make up for a captivating site. The reflection of the tea gardens into the water is the most beautiful part of the dam. Speed boating too is organized here by the Tourism Promotion Council of the district of Idukki. Other water sports organized include motor boats, paddle boats, and rowboats.

The Rose Gardens of Munnar is spread over 2 acres of land, is an excellent stretch that is brimming with a variety of plants, including spices, crops like cardamom and vanilla, and a variety of other fruit trees. These agricultural plantations exude mesmerising and wonderful aromas, which make your stay at the gardens a rewarding experience. Located in Munnar in Kerala, on the National Highway 49, just two kilometres away from the city centre; the place is set 3,500 feet above the sea level and is a breathtaking sight to behold. Day 4: Munnar – Periyar (By Road)

Stop At: Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Kumily, Thekkady India
After an early breakfast proceed towards Thekkady. Upon arrival checkin at the pre booked hotel. Afternoon proceed to visit Periyar Wildlife sanctuary.

Periyar Wildlife Sanctury (Visit – 3 hours)
One of the best ways to explore the Periyar Tiger Reserve is by taking a boat ride through the Periyar Lake. It offers travelers the opportunity to view the natural beauty of the forest with its tall trees and resident wildlife. Located in t he Periyar Tiger Reserve, the lake was formed by the construction of the dam across the Mullaperiyar River in the year 1895. The lake itself blends seamlessly into the landscape of the region and is a major part of the reserve’s eco system that harbors terrestrial, aquatic and subterranean life forms.. It serves as a major source of water for the wildlife and also comprises of several small islets along its course.

Day 5: Periyar – Alleppey (By Road)

Stop At: Alleppey Backwaters, Alappuzha India
Morning after breakfast proceed for towards Alleppey. Upon arrival check-in upon arrival check-in to the houseboat.

Alleppey (Visit – 20 Hrs)
Popularly known as the Venice of the east, Alleppey or Allapuzha is famous for its serene backwaters and their exceptionally scenic setting. Cruising on houseboats in Alleppey is the latest and probably the best addition to the list of ways you can enjoy the mesmerizing natural beauty of this quaint little town. Alleppey is gifted with a unique crisscrossing network of canals that runs throughout the town which allows you to access and explore the entire area while you’re relaxing on your houseboat. These 120-foot-long abodes of luxury g lide along the placid backwaters of Alleppey and provide you with a stunning view of endless paddy fields and swaying coconut trees as they surround you on all sides and lean over the waters as if they’re admiring their own reflection. The proximity of the lakes in this town and the dense greenery creates a perfect ambience for relaxing over a languorous cup of hot coffee. The houseboat will always be manned by at least 3 people- a cook, a guide and an oarsman. Delicious meals are provided on the houseboats by the in-house cook which are a local favourite. The guide keeps you posted of all the important landmarks you pass and the oarsman makes sure you have a wonderful time cruising along the calm backwaters.
