Humuyuns Tomb is located in the capital of the country, It is UNESCO Heritage site which is widely visited by tourists from all over the world. An epitome of beauty, the tomb was the first of its kind to be built in garden style by the first wife of the great Mughal emperor, Humayun. His widow, Haji Begum, ordered the construction of the tomb about nine years after the emperor passed away. The period of construction spanned about seven years from 1565 AD to 1572 AD with a tomb being successively constructed for her within the same premises after her demise. In addition, the complex now also contains the tombs of Isa Khan Niyazi, Dara Shikoh, Alamgir II and many members of the powerful Mughal royalty. With a well-maintained garden, and an alluring architecture to marvel at, this piece of history located at Nizammudin East is a spot which has got to be visited by all.

After India got its independence, India Gate became the site of Amar Jawan Jyoti -Indian Army’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It is counted among the largest war memorials in India.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan or the ‘President’s House or the ‘Presidential Palace’ was Lutyens’ and Baker’s inspired Imperial architecture that was made to be the residence of the Viceroy and Governor General of India during the British Rule. Formerly known as the ‘Viceroy’s House’ up till 1950, this structure speaks volumes of a classical design that cohesively blended with both western and Indian styles depicting architectural excellence that marked the identity of Delhi and the seat of the Government of India in today’s modern ambience.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan was constructed on Raisina Hills with its entrance named as Gate 35 on Prakash Veer Shastri Avenue. It is situated in the centre of Delhi earlier named as ‘Lutyens Delhi’ and was inaugurated in 1931 and served as the Viceroy’s residence of India up till India was declared a Republic country. This Palace is still known to be the World’s largest residential complex ever built for Head of any Country.

Pass By: Parliament House, Sansad Marg, New Delhi 110002 India
Parliament House or Sansad Bhavan is one of the most impressive buildings in Delhi. Located at the end of Sansad Marg the Parliament Building was designed by British architect Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker. This iconic building was inaugurated in 1927 by Lord Irwin, the then Governor-General of India.

The Parliament House comprises of a central hall which is circular in shape and 98 feet in diameter. The Central Hall is considered to be a very important part of the Parliament building since this is where the Indian Constitution was drafted. The building houses the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and a library hall. In between these three chambers lies a garden. The building also has facilities for accommodation for

ministers, important officers of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Chairmen and Parliamentary Committees.

The Parliament House also houses a museum which aims at educating people on the “Democratic Heritage of India” and which dates back to 2500 back. The museum is set up in a very interesting way and is complete with sound and light videos, large screen interactive computer screens and virtual reality among other features.

Jama Masjid of Delhi, Jama Masjid also spelled Jāmiʿ Masjid, Jama Masjid of Delhi also called Masjid-i Jahānnumā, mosque in Old Delhi, India, constructed in 1650–56 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahān, a noted patron of Islamic architecture whose most famous work is the Taj Mahal, in Agra. Jama Masjid, now the second largest mosque on the Indian subcontinent, is also an impressive example of Mughal architecture.

Jama Masjid is Delhi’s principal mosque, the place where the city’s Muslims traditionally gather for Friday communal prayer; Jama Masjid is Arabic for “Friday mosque.” The mosque is near the Red Fort, yet another of Shah Jahān’s buildings. Jama Masjid and its courtyard stand on an outcropping more than 30 steps higher than the street, giving the mosque a commanding view of the surrounding area. The longer name, Masjid-i Jahānnumā, translates to “world-reflecting mosque” or “world-displaying mosque.” The mosque was built by a crew of some 5,000 workers. The principal construction material was red sandstone, but some white marble was also used.

Lotus Temple is a notable architectural marvel famous for its unique lotus structure. The temple has won several awards and recognitions for its style of building, the concept of religion and the beauty. It is one of the most visited monuments in the world. This is a modern style non-religion oriented temple.

The temple controls 27 marble petals that form clusters to look like lotus. There are nine openings to the temple in regards to the nine anatomical openings of a human body. Lotus temple preaches Baha I Faith, a concept that includes all religions of the world as one. A person of any religion or creed can visit the temple and take part in the rituals. No religious script is allowed inside the temple. No lectures, sermons or spiritual meetings are allowed inside the temple. Musical prayers are conducted by instruments from time to time.

The temple holds no pictures or statues of any worship form. There is no altar or platform inside the temple. The temple can hold more than 2,400 people at the same time. The surface of the temple is made of white marble imported from Greece.

The temple is surrounded by nine ponds and gardens covering 26 acres in total. There is an information center inside the complex, which holds paintings that explains the unity of all religions. The temple hosts several classes from time to time to spread humanity, peace, affection, truth and courage.

Stop At: Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, Yamuna River, Agra 282001 India
Baby Taj or Itimad-ud-Daulah is a tomb that was built by mother of Shah Jahan. It has a very delicate architectural beauty. The marble lattice structures in this monument are the highlight. You can find exotic Persian styled gardens around the tomb. This tomb was built for Nur Jagan’s father. Her brother’s daughter is the well-known Mumtaz Mahal.

This tomb is famous for the stone inlay that is made out of wine glasses with perfect geometric structure. When you enter the monument, you would find a red stone arch that welcomes you to this baby Taj.

Baby Taj or Itimad-ud-Daulah is a tomb that was built by mother of Shah Jahan. It has a very delicate architectural beauty. The marble lattice structures in this monument are the highlight. This is a garden that is behind the Taj Mahal. It is called as Mehtab Bagh or The Moonlight Garden. Recent evacuation in this area revealed 25 fountains and a letter written by Aurangazeb to his father in 17th century stating the condition of the garden after a flood.

This garden is exactly square in shape. This garden was built by Babur and Shah Jahan chose the current place for Taj Mahal because he wanted a view of this garden from the Mahal. A lot of fountains, pavilions and other attractions were a part of this garden and were destroyed in a flood.

It is said that this area was chosen by Shah Jahan for building a black colour building similar to Taj Mahal for him. But, he was imprisoned by his son and could not complete his wishes.

Day 3: Visit Taj Mahal During Sunrise, Later Visit Agra Fort. Drive To Jaipur Via Fatehpur Sikri. Night Stay in Jaipur Hotel.

The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum located in India, in the city of Agra. The emblematic monument of this country, it is in white marble finely chiseled. It was built between 1631 and 1653 under the command of Shah Jahan in order to shelter the tomb of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died in childbirth during the delivery of their 14th child. Mumtaz Mahal was also called Arjumand Bano Begum. The Taj Mahal is a marvel of Mughal architecture, at the crossroads of Islamic, Iranian, Persian and Indian styles.

Agra fort is a massive fort that was built with red sandstone in 16th century by Akbar. Later Shah Jahan added more decorations using marbles. It is built on the bank of the river, Yamuna. The fort is about 2.5 km in circumference.

It is said that this fort had a lot of underground chambers which were destroyed by invaders including Jats, British and Marathas. Later, British used this fort as their garrison. Even today, a large part of this fort is restricted to army usage.

The first attraction inside the fort is the pearl mosque. It is not open to tourists. On the right of the mosque, you would find an open arena where kings used to listen to petitioners. If you walk up the staircase, you would find gem mosque that was built in 17th century and ladies’ bazaar. From the corridor, you can see Taj Mahal.

At the edge of the fort, you can find the octagonal tower in which Shah Jahan was held as a prisoner by his son as he requested that he wanted to spend his life looking at Taj Mahal.

This magnificent fortified ancient city, 40km west of Agra, was the short-lived capital of the Mughal empire between 1572 and 1585, during the reign of Emperor Akbar. Earlier, Akbar had visited the village of Sikri to consult the Sufi saint Shaikh Salim Chishti, who predicted the birth of an heir to the Mughal throne. When the prophecy came true, Akbar built his new capital here, including a stunning mosque, still in use today, and three palaces, one for each of his favourite wives – one a Hindu, one a Muslim and one a Christian (though Hindu villagers in Sikri dispute these claims)

The Amer Fort, situated in Amber, 11 kilometers from Jaipur, is one of the most famous forts of Rajasthan. Amer, originally, was the capital of the state before Jaipur. It is an old fort, built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh. This fort is also very popularly known as the Amer Palace. The Amer Fort was built in red sandstone and marble and the Maotha Lake adds a certain charm to the entire Fort. Though the fort is quite old and may even look so from the outside, it is beautiful on the inside and boasts of various buildings of prominence like the ‘Diwan-i-Aam’, the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ and even the ‘Sukh Mahal’. The Amer Fort has influences of both Hindu and Muslim architecture. This fort also has the ‘Shila Devi’ Temple and the ‘Ganesh Pol’ which is a gate that leads to the private palaces of the kings. The Amer Fort has many pavilions and halls of great interest and other popular attractions.

City Palace is Located in the heart of the Pink City Jaipur, the City Palace was where the Maharaja reigned from. This palace also includes the famous ‘Chandra Mahal’ and ‘Mubarak Mahal’, and other buildings which form a part of the palace complex. The palace is located towards the northeast side of central Jaipur and has many courtyards and buildings. The palace was built between 1729 and 1732 AD by Sawai Jai Singh II. He ruled in Amer and planned and built the outer walls of the palace and later rulers added to the architecture of this palace.

The renowned ‘Palace Of The Winds’, or Hawa Mahal, is one of the prominent tourist attractions in Jaipur city. Located in the heart of Jaipur, this beautiful five-storey palace was constructed in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh who belonged to Kachhwaha Rajput dynasty. The main architect of this palace built of red and pink sandstone, is Lal Chand Ustad and the palace is believed to have been constructed in the form of the crown of Krishna, the Hindu god. Considered as an embodiment of Rajputana architecture, the main highlight of Hawa Mahal is its pyramid shape and its 953 windows or ‘Jharokhas’ which are decorated with intricate designs. The main intention behind the construction of the Mahal was to facilitate the royal women and provide them a view of everyday life through the windows, as they never appeared in public.
