Taj Mahal. Agra Fort was started by Akbar somewhere in the range of 1565 and 1573. It is arranged on the west bank of the Jumna River, about 2km upstream from the Taj Mahal (outline). Akbar assembled the fortification of sandstone; his grandson Shah Jahan, the developer of the Taj Mahal, built castles of white marble inside the post itself.
