Itinerary
This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional culture and cuisine. Himanshu and Deepti live in a traditional family home with their children and three well-behaved dogs. They belong to an erstwhile noble family called Nimaj, a fiefdom of the Marwar state of Rajasthan. Join Himanshu in his kitchen and learn about Indian spices and how they are used in the cooking process. Next learn to cook chicken kachri handi soola (a traditional chicken dish) and bharwa baingan (eggplant) or safed aloo (potatoes cooked in an almond gravy). These recipes are from the noble families of Nimaj and Chomu. Your cooking lesson will last about 1.5 hours before you sit down to share the authentic Rajasthani meal you helped prepare with Himanshu and Deepti. You will end your meal with a traditional dessert like keshri kheer (rice pudding flavored with saffron and cardamom) and tea or coffee.
