What to Expect When Visiting Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali, Indonesia

Best of all, it is unkwon by the vast majority of tourists, making a peaceful, educational and unique visit.

By joining our programme, you will support local farmer income and contribute to our sustainable, culturally-respectful community based-tourism development in Pejeng, Bali

We offer cooking classes on a traditional, organic farm, using a real traditional stove for an authentically Balinese experience. Using organic ingredients from our vegetable garden, we will teach you about Balinese cuisine, from its Indian and Chinese influences to the usage of spices to presentation with Banana leaves. And of course, you will cook a delicious meal that can be easily replicated at home. But we will also invite you to use our organic ingredients to craft contemporary treats, like your own green juices.

Our day will begin with a welcome drink. I will take this time to present our community movement and teach you how we grow our organic produce. After that, we will walk along the community farm; learn more about organic farming and the unique, UNESCO- protected Subak System in Bali. We will also pick the ingredients we are going to cook with.

Once we arrive to the centre of the community, the Mai Organic farm, we will prepare 6 Balinese dishes, fresh juices to accompany them and traditional offerings for mother’s nature, God. Finally, you will enjoy your meal in a tranquil gubuk (hut) and take home a printed recipe book of traditional Balinese dishes.
