Ubud Trip Overview

A day trip through authentic Balinese villages and some of the most picturesque parts of Bali in a Land Rover or Land Cruiser. First stop to natural stone quarry where villagers have cut the stone out of a dry river bed. Continues to agricultural village where you can discover the fragrance of Balinese coffee being roasted. Learn to make “canang”, the most important element of Balinese temple offerings and take optional 30 minutes soft trekking through the rice fields. Then drive high into the mountains through the UNESCO-recognized rice terraces of Jatiluwih and have a sumptuous Balinese lunch with a glass of wine, beer, tea or Balinese coffee in the open-air canopy.
After lunch, you will visit Batukaru temple, a unique sacred mountain sanctuary and royal temple of Tabanan dynasty. It was founded in 11th century by Empu Kuturan, a great Hindu Sage who established six main temples on the island of Bali. Here you can pray with the “canang” that you made, as an offering to the Gods.

Jatiluwih village in Penebel District, north of Tabanan, has paddy fields following the contours of terraced land against the background of spellbinding Mount Batukaru and Mount Agung use traditional Balinese irrigation known as subak, Bali’s community-based water control management system. Lies at an altitude of 700 meters, the cool atmosphere of more original beautiful Jatiluwih is better than the most well known Tegallalang which has plenty of cafes and souvenir shops.

Pura Luhur Batukaru is a Hindu temple in Tabanan, Bali, Indonesia. Located on the southern slope of Mount Batukaru, Bali’s second-highest volcano, the temple is one of nine kayangan jagat (directional temples) meant to protect Bali from evil spirits. Originally built during the 11th century, Pura Luhur Batukaru was dedicated to the ancestors of the rajas of Tabanan. It was destroyed in 1604, but rebuilt in 1959. The temple’s most important shrine is a 7-tiered meru dedicated to Mahadewa, the God of Mount Batukaru.
