The archaeological investigations that have interested the historical center have brought light the traces of the ancient populations settled in the original nucleus of the City.
This area is called the QUADRILATERO ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK.
The seven sites that constitute it are:
Door of the Earth, Civic Museum “Porta della Terra”, Abbey Museum, Archaeological Island of the Cloister, House of the Roman Mosaic, Roman Aqueduct and Church of San Giuseppe.

It is the area dedicated to the remains of some Roman domus dating back to the 3rd century AD. The “House of Mosaic” inside preserves the polychrome mosaic, made up of various carpets, which depict vine shoots coming out of elusive vases.
Stop At: Museo Civico Porta Della Terra, Porta Della Terra, San Salvo Italy
In ancient times the “Gate of the Earth” was the entrance to the medieval village, caressed by the lush agricultural fields from which it takes its name. Today it is the access to the Archaeological Park of the Quadrilateral and it is the symbolic monument of the origins of San Salvo in the memory of its citizens.
The Civic Museum “Porta della Terra” is a hypogeum of the highest historical interest that preserves the ancient walls and finds of the Italic, Roman and medieval ages, bearing witness to the commercial activities and the religiousness of the settlements that populated the territory.
