What to Expect When Visiting Castellaneta, Apulia, Italy
Enjoy a tasting experience of extra virgin olive oil within a company. You will learn the techniques of tasting extra virgin olive oil. Then enjoy a combination of typical local products while discovering the long history of oil in Puglia.
The owner of the oil mill will explain to you all the secrets and care required by the trees. When you know all about the centuries-old olive trees, the manager will accompany you to the oil mill, where you can see all the machinery used for the entire process. You will find out everything about the collection, extraction, production, storage, bottling and packaging of high quality extra virgin olive oil. The mill produces exclusively extra virgin olive oil, unique in the Italian panorama. After discovering the process, the history and the traditional way of production, you can taste different varieties of extra virgin olive oil with typical local products. Two recommended experiences:
Basic Tasting: 3 oils tasted from different cultivars and in sensory intensity scale; 2 flavored oils; Focaccia or friselle tasting
Rich Tasting: 3 tasting oils from different cultivars and in sensorial intensity scale; 2 flavored oils; Tasting, friselle or focaccia, salami, cheeses and local products, glass of wine or beer from Puglia.
In the period between October and December, it will be possible to attend the milling.
