The square, from where the tour starts, takes its name from Palazzo Venezia, the first great Renaissance civil building work. The Altar of the Fatherland, next to the Capitoline Hill, overlooks the square.

Stop At: Piazza del Campidoglio, Rome Italy

The Piazza del Campidoglio, designed by Michelangelo, was the hub of the city already in Ancient Rome with the temple of Jupiter, Juno Moneta and Minerva. Today it is the seat of the Municipality of Rome, with the Palazzo Senatorio, while the Capitoline Museums, the first public museum in the world, are located in the Palazzo dei Conservatori and Palazzo Nuovo.
