The Duomo of Milan tells a story of faith and art spanning over six centuries. The construction of the Duomo of Milan began in 1386 and ended in 1965, it took place in the same location where the St. Ambrose basilica was located since the 5th century to which in the year 836 the Basilica of St. Tecla was added and destroyed by a fire in 1075.
Housed inside the Royal Palace of Milan, the Grande Museo del Duomo di Milano preserves artifacts and works of art related to the Duomo Cathedral.
The roof consists of a system of sloping and accessible terraces with connecting walkways and stairs. This lets you reach and almost touch all the flying buttresses, crockets, spires and statues.
