In the late Middle Ages many villas and castles were erected throughout the Chianti hills by wealthy Florentine and Senese families. A rich family of bankers, the Borromei, who were the treasurers of the Medici family’s fortune, decided to build a villa with a farm in Luiano. Of particular interest is the fact that the Villa was not built on top of the hill where the church is. In agreement with the government of Florence, the villa was placed on the slope of the hill facing north and a watch tower was built in order to keep the Cassia route under observation to monitor possible attacks by the Siena army coming from south towards Florence.
With this wine tasting experience you can taste 3 wines paired with crackers and bakery products. You can also choose the “luxury” option to taste 3/4 wines paired with various tasting of typical tuscan specialities.
