Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Pass By: Kusasenrigahama, Aso 869-1404 Kumamoto Prefecture

This gorgeous must-see geosite includes a rain fed pool and a 785,000-square-meter grassland growing inside an inactive crater in the foothills of Mt. Eboshi. It’s a perfect place to stop for a stroll alongside the cows and horses that graze peacefully as Mt. Nakadake sends up smoke in the distance. Horse rides through the grasslands are another popular activity.

Pass By: Mount Aso Trail, Aso-gun Kumamoto Prefecture

Mount Aso (阿蘇山, Asosan) is an active volcano in the center of Kyushu which most recently erupted in 2016 but has since calmed down again. Aso’s ancient caldera ranks among the world’s largest, with a diameter of up to 25 kilometers and a circumference of over 100 kilometers. In the center of the caldera stand the mountain’s active volcanic peaks, including Mount Nakadake, whose spectacular crater is accessible to tourists.

Pass By: Daikanbo Lookout, 2090-8 Yamada, Aso 869-2313 Kumamoto Prefecture

The perfect spot view the five peak of Mount Aso. The must visiting tourist spot in Aso, Daikanbo

literally means a big observatory peak. The circumference of the Aso caldera is about 130

kilometers. From the observation site, you can clearly see its conical shape. Early in the morning,

the clouds had spread out below us, and hung over the caldera as if they were a large sea.

Pass By: Aso shrine, 3083-1 Ichinomiyamachi-miyaji, Aso 869-2612 Kumamoto Prefecture

Although its origins are uncertain, Aso Shrine (阿蘇神社, Aso Jinja) is believed to date back almost two thousand years to the end of the Yayoi Period (300 BC to 300 AD). It was considered the most important shrine in Higo Province, present day Kumamoto Prefecture.

Pass By: Kurokawa Onsen, Manganji Kurokawa Sakuradori, Minamioguni-machi, Aso-gun 869-2402 Kumamoto Prefecture

Kurokawa Onsen (黒川温泉) is one of Japan’s most attractive hot spring towns, located in the middle of Kyushu about 20 kilometers north of Mount Aso. Well coordinated efforts by the town to maintain a pleasant, traditional atmosphere have kept Kurokawa free of the massive concrete hotels, neon advertisements and loud colors that are encountered in many of Japan’s other resort towns.

Pass By: Nabegataki Falls, Kurobuchi, Oguni-machi, Aso-gun 869-2502 Kumamoto Prefecture

If you are visiting Kurokawa Onsen, Aso or just a fan of waterfalls put the Nabegataki Falls high on your list to see. Only recently discovered as a tourist location, the fall itself is a wide sheet of water; though not particularly high at 10 meters it makes up for it with a width of around 20 m across. The area behind the waterfall is surprisingly spacious, the beautiful views through the cascade making it an ideal spot for keen photographers.
