Itinerary

Stop At: Matsushima Kaigan Ekimae V Information Center, 7-1 Namiuchihama Matsushima, Matsushima-machi, Miyagi-gun 981-0213 Miyagi Prefecture

We will meet at Matsushima Kaigan Station. Please check your temperature, wear a mask, and use the restroom before we leave.

Stop At: Sodo of Zuiganji Temple, Chōnai-93-91 Matsushima, Miyagi District, Miyagi 981-0213, Japan

First, we will visit Zuiganji Temple, a national treasure and the most ancient temple in Matsushima, where we will have an explanation and receive a seal stamp (you can also purchase a stamp book if necessary).

Stop At: Sodo of Zuiganji Temple, Chōnai-93-91 Matsushima, Miyagi District, Miyagi 981-0213, Japan

We will head to Yotokuin Temple, right next to Zuiganji Temple, for another explanation.
This is the location of the mausoleum of Masamune Date’s daughter Aihime.

Stop At: Hiyoshi Sannō Shrine, Chonai-4 Matsushima, 松島町 Matsushima, Miyagi District, Miyagi 981-0213, Japan

From Entsuuin, we will move on to Hiyoshi Sanno Shrine (built as a Shinto shrine when Enpukuji Temple, now Zuiganji Temple, was built) for another explanation, then visit Tenrinin Mausoleum (the mausoleum of Masamune’s eldest daughter, Princess Gorohachi).

Stop At: Godaido, Next to Matsushima pier, Matsushima-machi, Miyagi-gun 981-0213 Miyagi Prefecture

The tour concludes with a visit to Godaido Hall and a view of Matsushima Bay. Godaido Hall was built by Lord Masamune in 1604 and features Momoyama era-style architecture.
