Stop At: Mount Fuji, Chubu

One of the most representative sight-seeing places in Japan. This is not only the highest mountain in Japan, but exists in every one of Japanese people’s mind. So, it is a place of heart of Japan. The attraction of the mountain is valued very high in foreing countries. Almost all the foreign visitors want to see the mountain.

Actually, though, the possibility of seeing the mountain clearly is about 40 %. Conditions include fine weather, humidity and temperature. Even under the clear sky in the mid-summer, it might not be seen clearly, temperature is too high in summer. So, the best season to observe and appreciate the mountain is in Spring (March, April and May) and in late Fall (October, December and November). Mt. Fuji in winter is also fantastic! Some photogrraphers wish to take astonishing photos and wait the moment. But the it might be a little cold for sight-seeing. (about 5 degrees Celsius in winter)

There are no rivers on Mt. Fuji. Raindrops or snow on the soil soak inside the mountain and after 30 years, the water comes out around the mountain area. There are many water ponds or lakes which are made from the water flown under Mt. Fuji. SHIRAITO water falls are amazing spots! There are no rivers or ponds around the waterfalls, but at the place of SHIRAITO, the water comes out of the wall of the waterfall. It is really mysterious and fascinating spot. You never foget to see the place.

Stop At: Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine, 3353 Arakura Arakurayama Sengen Park, Fujiyoshida 403-0011 Yamanashi Prefecture

Among many SENGEN shrine, FUJINOMIYA Sengen shrine was the first built one to wish the peace and security from the mountain because there many eruptions of the mountain deprived local people’s lives and devastated the area.

Around Mt. Fuji, there are many ‘SENGEN’ shrines around it. Shrines are SHINTO originated buildings, many of which are built for local people wishing for no natural disasters such earth quakes or mountain eruptions.

Mt. Fuji is still an active volcano, but it is a popular and familiar place where local people enjoy seeing cherry blossoms and hold festivals all around the year. You will feel the real people’s lives of the region.

Stop At: Miho no Matsubara, Miho, Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka, 424-0901, Japan

This place is also included in Mt. Fuji’s surrounding landscapes registered as one of the World Heritage Sites in 2013. On the fine day, the whole view of Mt. Fuji to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south can be appreciated from this beach.

Just in front of the entrace of the beach, Miho Culture and Creativity Center named “MIHOSHIRUBE” was built, where visitors can learn how Mt. Fuji and Miho Pine Tree Groves are loved and taken care of by Japanese people.
