The first spot of this tour has four stone statues with a strange face. There are still many to be found out about those statues. Who made it when for what sake? Imagine and try to compose your interpretation!

A facility and a lab reproducing the tomb where the ancient royalty used to be buried. They exhibit a huge replica of a burial chamber made from stone and how they excavate so you can know how it feels like to be in a tomb! The star map from about 1,500 years ago and beautiful wall paintings are also worth checking!

A facility of Takamatsu-zuka tomb which is often described as the brother of “Kitora-kofun tomb”. They also exhibit the replica of a burial chamber made from stone and other buried jewels and ornaments.

Stop At: Oni no Manaita ・ Oni no Setchin, Hirata, Asuka-mura, Takaichi-gun 634-0144 Nara Prefecture

A huge remain made from stone. It is so big that it is said a demon used to live here. Sounds silly? You will find out when you get there!

Stop At: Kameishi (Turtle Rock), Kawahara, Asuka-mura, Takaichi-gun Nara Prefecture

Another huge remain made from stone. It is in the shape of a turtle and it is said that this area will suffer a flood when this turtle changes its direction where it is heading to.

Stop At: Ishibutai Tumulus, 254 Shimashō, Asuka, Takaichi District, Nara 634-0112, Japan

A symbolic tomb of Asuka. It is the far biggest among the tombs in this area. This tomb is also said to be the grave of an influential person back then but it remains a mystery who exactly is buried.

A huge stone with a ditch located in a bamboo forest. It is said that ancient people used to use this ditch to compound many different kinds of materials.

Stop At: Asuka-dera Temple, 682 Asuka, Asuka-mura, Takaichi-gun 634-0103 Nara Prefecture

A temple which has a Buddhist image older than the famous one in Kofukuji Temple! It is said that Japanese Buddhism has started here. There is also an anecdote about the Buddhist image that it had survived a big fire which as burned down everything but this Buddhist image.

Stop At: Nara Prefecture Complex of Man’yo Culture, 10 Asuka, Asuka-mura, Takaichi-gun 634-0103 Nara Prefecture

A facility which has an exhibition related to “waka”. “waka” is traditional Japanese poetry developed in ancient Nara. The life of people when Nara used to be the capital city is elaborately reproduced so you can know what kind of life people had at that time!
