The statue of Budhanilkantha is carved out of a single black stone, which depicts Lord Vishnu, a major deity in Hinduism, resting peacefully on the cosmic serpent Shesha in the middle of a small pond. Lord Vishnu is considered the preserver of the universe in Hindu mythology, and this particular representation symbolizes him in his cosmic sleep, signifying the universe’s existence.
