Stop At: Kuwait Red Fort, Marzouk Al Metab St, Jahra Kuwait

The building of the fort started one year after the accession of Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah as seventh ruler of Kuwait in 1897. Its primary purpose was the defense of agriculture in Al-Jahra. The fort was the location of the Battle of Jahra in 1920.The four towers are built with bricks made from mud mixed with local desert shrubs. The towers were designed to give infantrymen a view and line of fire in all directions. The walls around the fort house firing holes for infantrymen and sharpshooters. The fort is almost square, surrounded by a wall about 15 feet high and 2 feet thick, and houses thirty-three rooms and six courtyards.

The Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Causeway is a mega bridge project with an estimated construction value of approximately US$3 billion that spans the Bay of Kuwait in two directions and comprises two projects: Main Link, which connects Kuwait City with the future Silk City; and Doha Link, which connects Kuwait City with Doha and the Kuwait Entertainment City. The project forms part of the Kuwait National Development Plan 2035. The bridges are named after the late Sheikh Jaber Al-Sabah who reigned during the Gulf War. to commemorate his contribution to the development of Kuwait. It is one of the largest and most challenging transport infrastructure projects in Kuwait, as well as the entire Middle East region. The Main Link is the 4th longest road bridge in the world at 36.14 km. Both bridges have a combined length of 48.5 kilometers.

Located in the heart of the city, the Grand Mosque is the biggest and the official Mosque of Kuwait which means that official religious celebrations are held in this mosque only. Locals refer to it as Al-Masjid Al-Kabir with total area of 46,000 square meters (490,000 sq ft), in that the building itself covers 20,000 square meters (220,000 sq ft). The Grand mosque is internationally renowned for its Islamic architecture and it has become one of Kuwait’s most treasured landmarks. Indeed, the builders and designers have put a lot of effort in creating this mosque starting the project way back in 1979 and finally completing it seven years later in 1986 at a cost of about KD 14 million. Grand Mosque is popular for its prayer arrangement during the last 10 days of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims gather during last 10 days of Ramadan.
