My town is located in Air Itam which is near to Kek Lok Si Temple and Penang Hill. The route is very well hidden from the public. We will be hiking through “farmers road” where sometimes you get to see some farmers bringing down their produce and you’ll have a great view of the town and hills along the way. Furthermore, you’ll get to see local vegetables and fruits planted along the hike. Please bear in mind that the hike is not for beginners and you should be moderately fit. The hike is around 3.6 kilometers to the top (552m). Estimate time is around 1 hour and 45 mins for a round trip hike (not including photo stops, rest, etc). Once up there you will have amazing views of the city, fruits and vegetable plantation, 2 Penang bridges as well as Balik Pulau. Also did I mention the fresh air and beautiful sunset? If we are lucky, we could see a couple of animals such as wild boars, eagles, and farm chickens. Every week on Wednesday there is a night market(Farlim Pasar Malam) which is a bonus with this itinenary. You can opt for a Sunrise experience where after we descend we’ll have breakfast at a popular spot with only locals to then proceed back to their respective accomodations.
